Why OpAmp instead of transistor in dimming?

Post by trunet »

Hi,

Why did you choose to use an opamp instead of transistors to switch 0-5v to 0-10v?

Thanks,

Current source capability and easy to adjust gain multiplier.

The gain is really an advantage. But why do you need current source capability for a simple PWM signal?

Not all drivers are made equal.
You would be surprised how much current is drawn when you connect multiple drivers to the same port.
Besides, the port can also drive the LED moonlights without any other additional component.
