Temp Probe stopped working

Post by knapp870 »

I've had my RA for a few years with little issue. However, I moved a few months ago and my temp probe no longer works. Only error shows on display for temp and nothing shows via portal. Everything else works ok. I tried scraping the connections to no avail. Suggestions? Do these ever go bad? Thanks!!

Yes, they can go bad. Have you rebuilt the sketch using the wizard to see if maybe there is an error there? The temp sensor inside the probe is just an integrated circuit with three prongs, one +, one - and one data. They are really pretty simple, but if they get a bit of water inside the casing you will have problems. Simplest solution is to reload the sketch to see if somehow it corrupted and if that fails order a new probe. Not very expensive. I picked up a couple and have one in my tank and another in the heatsink of my LED fixture.

I suppose I can try reloading the code again, however I think I tried that already.

Sounds like a bad cable. Check all your connections then do a power cycle on the unit.

I've had my RA for several years and I've to had to replace a temp probe from time to time. Had to tonite, in fact. If you tried all above, I did too, then just replace it...it has probably served honorably.
