Fan controller?

Post by Pny »

Anyone knows what kind of circuit is required to make this kind of controller for the Reef Angel?
The GHL Profilux PropellerControl is able to control the rotation speed of the PropellerBreeze Fan units. Propeller control has to be connected to a 1-10V interface on a Profilux Controller. Using this unit will regulate the speed of the fans to adjust it to the desired set temperature. The fans will always rotate as fast as required and as quietly as possible.

Probably analog signal...check out what type of 1-10v the profilux controller has...

You don't need a controller.
Just use pwm controllable fans.

I control my fans based on tank temperature.

I suppose the box contains some kind of low gain high current OP-amp circuit that converts an analog 0-10V low current signal to a 0-12V higher current signal that can controls these cooling beasts. I doubt they contain PWM-controllable fans...

Sorry to dig up an old thread, but was just wondering which fans you're using Roberto? I'm getting quite a bit of humidity in my stand and I'm thinking about getting a PWM fan to remedy this. I may also consider your humidity expansion to control when it goes on/off, but first I'd like to get the proper type of fan that I can connect to a dimming port.

Of those on the page you linked, I was considering this one due to the IP67 rating, but not sure if/how the 4 pin PWM connector can hook up to the 2 pin dimming port on the relay box.

I think the one you link would work good.
I used similar one, which was not ip67 and it died after a while.

OK, thanks Roberto. So how do I hook the 4-pin connector up to the 2-pin dimmer control on the relay box? Do I need to cut the end off and separate it and just use the speed wires for the dimming port and then buy/add a power adapter to the red/black wires?

Maybe your power control expansion might be a good idea for this?
