HELP usb device not recognized

I was able to install the RA yesterday without any problems, then I got the code ready to upload and I got the "USB device not recognized" error. I have tried unplugging and replugging the RA with no luck.

What could be the issue/fix?

I have a RA plus v1.0.7
I am running Windows 8.0

Try using another USB port

I tried all 4 USB ports, and realized that i had misread the error.
"the last device you connected to this computer malfunctioned, and windows does not recognize it"
the other ports same thing.

So after leaving it unplugged from the usb for 5 min, I plugged it back in and it worked.

here we go again, same error but leaving it unplugged for hours, days, weeks didnt fix it.
What can I do when windows (8) doesnt recognize the device and the port link under tools is greyed out?
