DC Pumps that work with RA
I was looking at DC Pumps, would like to control it with the RA. The idea at some point would be to try the RobertoFlow when I move the DT upstairs. I've read 100 theads, but none give a conclusive answer of which DC Pumps work with the RA? Jebao, but which model? DCT 15000, DCS 12000???
I went with those for the price, but I'm open to any suggestions (or threads that already have this info.)
Thanks!!!

Re: DC Pumps that work with RA
I think you need to go with the DCS line.
The DCT cannot be controlled as they moved the driver to inside their controller on those models.
Mine is working great for 3 years I think.
At one point my pump went bad and I had to replace it though.

Re: DC Pumps that work with RA
After reading quite a bit it seems that Jebao has 3 different model pumps;
DC - was controllable out of the box
DCT - I don't think it's controllable
DCS - I don't think is controllable
There is this thread on RC about controlling them
http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/showt ... ?t=2584508
, but not quite there yet. Anyone care to share their experience controlling DC pumps with the RA? I know the DC is controllable, but that's a little older. If I'm going to invest in a DC pump, I'd like it to be newer...

Re: DC Pumps that work with RA
The new waveline pumps can be controlled with the reef angel. They can be purchased at bulk reef supply. I'm using the DC10000 to do the Robertoflow standpipe.
Re: DC Pumps that work with RA
Jebao also has a new line of DC pumps, the DCP. Not sure if you can control them or not.

Wow that's awesome! Thanks for the info. Also, I have been reading about DC pumps for quite a few days and have yet to come across the DCP line.Ismaclst wrote:The new waveline pumps can be controlled with the reef angel. There's so much information out there, it's hard to decipher through it all with the different models.
Do you still need the jebao RA adapter to control the waveline?
Re: DC Pumps that work with RA
No you don't need the adapter to control it. Just a Ethernet cable. The DCP can be found on fishstreet.com.

Ok, looked it up and see the ethernet port. That's pretty nice. I can't find enough pictures of the DCP controller to see if it has the same ethernet port.Ismaclst wrote:No you don't need the adapter to control it. Just a Ethernet cable. The DCP can be found on fishstreet.com.
What did you end up paying for the waveline? (if you don't mind) They don't list the waveline dc10000 on BRS as of right now. It might just not be in stock?
Re: DC Pumps that work with RA
Sorry I was mistaken. I have the 12000 model. Bought it off of eBay for I think around 160. I got a good deal on it because it was listed as used but it was because the box was opened.

It looks like the waveline is 0-10v for control. Do you have the analog RA or a dimming expansion?Ismaclst wrote:Sorry I was mistaken. I have the 12000 model. Bought it off of eBay for I think around 160. I got a good deal on it because it was listed as used but it was because the box was opened.

The analog reef angel.

Re: DC Pumps that work with RA
Just an update on this. I've been reading here and there, have not seen any great pictures of the Jebao DCP line of pumps (at least not of the controller). I sent an email to fishstreet and he said they will be releasing a new controller for the DCP line with an rj45 jack (for the Apex), but I see know reason why we can't tie into this.
Release date is Dec 15th (we'll see)
This was my understanding anyway, there's a little bit of a language barrier there.

Re: DC Pumps that work with RA
I wouldn't get your hopes up too much. They have been saying they will have that controller for their older models of pumps.
Re: DC Pumps that work with RA
Fish street as a new controller, the aqualink A1. Now we can hook up the RA to the DCT, DCS, and CP pumps

Well that's exciting!, do you have one, or have one on the way? Shouldn't be to hard to get it to work right?Ismaclst wrote:Fish street as a new controller, the aqualink A1. Now we can hook up the RA to the DCT, DCS, and CP pumps
Sorry for the couple day late response, was on vacation

Re: DC Pumps that work with RA
I downloaded the manual from Fish Street for the DC controller, but his directions are backwards. The description says Channel 1 is flow, but the picture says channel 1 is direction. Does anyone know which is correct for the rj45 port? I'm assuming for a DC pump, we would only be interested in flow.

Re: DC Pumps that work with RA
I had limited discussions with Eric from Fishstreet. I've attached a drawing for what I think I'm supposed to do. He said that 5 and 6 are for speed, 1 and 2 are for direction.
I don't think we would worry about direction with a DC pump? So 1 and 2 are not needed?
Another stupid question, is this 0-10v pwm or 0-10v analog? There's such a language barrier with them, it's hard to understand. (and I'm green with a lot of this that may be obvious to some )

Sorry, I don't have this controller. I run a waveline pump.

How do you have that connected to the RA? I assume an rj45, but which pins?Ismaclst wrote:Sorry, I don't have this controller. I run a waveline pump.

Re: DC Pumps that work with RA
I think I have most of this figured out.
Does anyone know if the signal is PWM or Analog?
I've seen posts that its pwm, and then the A1 manual says analog???
Edit: after more digging the Apex is analog, as is the waveline, as is the A1 controller if it's to work with the Apex. I hope to order a pump/controller soon and will update this thread.

Re: DC Pumps that work with RA
I can confirm the reef angel connected to an A1 controller will control a DCP 10000. It is 0-10v analog, and you can see the pinout in the manual. It is pins 5 and 6 for speed.
So I guess this means for anyone with DCT, DCS, or DCP pump you can now control it. I must say I was hesitant about buying the DCP, but it feels/looks really well made. I've seen pictures of the DC series jebao, and it looked like junk. What does this mean?.......absolutely nothing, but I'll be sure to post back if anything fails.
I was able to get the DCP to flow at 10% and higher via the app. I'll take some pictures when I get it plumbed in the tank, now it's just in a bucket.

How long have you had the 8000? What's your thoughts on it thus far?MacSakkie wrote:Hi Rob, would love to see the setup. I have a DCP 8000 so very interested
Here are some preliminary photos and a video of it working in a bucket. Right now it's wired to channel 4 of the dimmer module, but I think I'll take it to the daylight channel on the relay for a cleaner look in the app. This way it would only be shown on the "DC pump" page and not with my dimmer also.

Re: DC Pumps that work with RA
Does anyone know if we can use the ReefKeeper DCI DC Pump Interface from Digital Aquatics? I don't know why I didn't see this before, but it has 2 leads to control 2 pumps~$30/pump.
It would be great to get this and control a smaller DC pump for the skimmer, as now my skimmer uses more electricity than anything else besides lights, (or at least it will when the DC pump is put in place as the return)
I asked BRS if they know the pinouts and what's the max amperage that can be driven (size pump). I haven't found the pinouts, but it looks to be 0-10v analog...
I mean, it's only looking for a signal, it doesn't care where the signal is coming from as long as it's 0-10v
I'm not sure if I can post outside links, but reef angel doesn't have anything like this yet, so here goes. If this is wrong, please let me know and I'll remove it

Edit: I'm thinking this is for the older style DC Pumps..

Re: DC Pumps that work with RA
Well....I got around to finalizing all connections and plumbed in the pump. The reef angel had a seizure as soon as the pump came on. Roberto said they were "bus locks". It's definitely the A1 controller (or my wiring, although it worked brfore), as soon as I put the stock controller instead of A1 in place all returns to normal. I tried running wires away from everything else, still the same issue. Funny thing is, I did not have this issue when trying it in the bucket the other night? Same connections to the dimmer expansion also, nothings really changed???
I'll take another wack at it when I have time later this week.
Plus side, stock controller says at 50% flow, which is more flow than my other pump, it's only using 29watts! (Compared to 110) That's nuts.

Re: DC Pumps that work with RA
That was short lived...
So I played around some more last night / this morning. No matter what I do, having the DC Pump plugged in causes a bus lock. I have it plugged into a different circuit, and it still does it eventually, without the A1 controller. I don't know what's causing it. Is it too close to my ph / temp sensor? Why would it do that?
I went down this morning and it was locked up again, so I had to put in my old pump.
Edit: I started a new thread here;

Re: DC Pumps that work with RA
Finally had time to get this all worked out. I had to mount EVERYTHING to do with the DC pump away from EVERYTHING to do with the RA. The only thing that comes close to the RA is the line plugged into the standard dimming port on the relay box that controls the DCP 10000. No matter what I did, it would not work on the dimming expansion. It would start to bus lock within a minute or two.
So far I really like having the DC pump. Yesterday when I got done I did a water change. Ramped the pump to 100% after stirring the bottom pretty good. It was amazing how much crud it removed. I'm running the pump around 55%-60% normally.

Re: DC Pumps that work with RA
How does this work on the DCT series? I have a DCT 15000 that I was going to use either has a return or pump for my LifeReef skimmer. Other pump is the Vectra which I believe requires the icecap unit.
