Bus Lock - RA*
Hi
In the last few days I've faced a bus lock issue in my RA*....twice...
All the suddenly, my RA* stopped working, and turning it off and on seems to have no effect. My lights port is locked On, even if it is showing as Off both on Uapp or in the RA* screen.
My concern is if any other port is turned On, let´s say "Water In" port for instance. I may be looking for a overflow in the near future...
Anyway.. started unpluging the expansions one by one (the data cable, not the power cable) and when I unpluged my new ORP expansion, RA* backed active.
It was 01:30 am by then.. hahahaha
Never had this kind of problem before. What can I do?
Rafa

Re: Bus Lock - RA*
Yeah I was paranoid of having a buslock happening during dosing or topping off which would be disastrous. I ended up using some time delay relays for the dosing pumps and ato that are connected to the RA* but will shut off after a set time even if there is a buslock. For the non critical devices and buslock itself I set an alarm so I can reset the RA* remotely, which normally gets everything working again. Maybe there's a better solution but this will help me sleep at night.

Tngo tks for sharing.
In my case, rebooting had no effect. Let's wait for more ideas. If It happens when I am not home, I don't know what to do...

Re: Bus Lock - RA*
Check the USB cable. I had some bus lock problems I pinned down to my water level expansion module. I discovered slightly moving the usb cable connector where it plugged into my expansion hub would create or fix the bus lock. I changed cables and so far, no more bus locks not even with wiggling the usb cable connector.
Re: Bus Lock - RA*
I just patched the libraries.
On RA*, I implemented a chip that powers the bus independent of system power.
So, in the case of bus lock, RA* will turn off the expansion bus and tries to re-initialize it and power it back on.
Can you upload your code again using the webwizard and let me know if things get better?

I cant use the webwizard. I customized the library, modifying the waterlevel gain. Can I download the Dev library and use It?
BTW.. any chance implementing a custom waterlevel parameter to pass the gain? Would be awesome to use the webwizard.

That's a pretty cool feature Roberto. Thanks for implementing it in advance.

Re: Bus Lock - RA*
I'm getting bus lock alarms every 12 to 36 hours and nothing is plugged into the unit.
I tried reprogramming it with the webwizard but it still happens randomly. After reboot, I get another 12 to 36 hours before it does it again.
These units are brand new and have only had power to them for 3 weeks with nothing plugged into them (no heads, pumps, etc)
What should I be looking for?
Thanks!

Re: Bus Lock - RA*
If you disconnect your relay box from RA*, turn off the power and turn it back on, what color is the logo?
Roberto.
Re: Bus Lock - RA*
We are just talking about the relay box, not the controller?
And this is during the bus lock alarm?
I'm waiting on it to bus lock again, its been about 30 hours so it shouldl happen again today

Re: Bus Lock - RA*
Yes, jus the relay box at any time. It doesn't need to be when you are having the issue.
Roberto.
Re: Bus Lock - RA*
They are both blue.
I'm letting it run with only one module connected now to see if either one of those relays boxes are the issue.
Seems like the RA* controller to me since the relay boxes havent had anything plugged into them to draw power.

Re: Bus Lock - RA*
Oh, now thing are getting interesting... If I turn off expansion relay #2, water leak alarm will go on, stay on and never clear until the rope is unplugged.
I'll try with #1 turned off and see if it does the same.
We were on a run of 4 days without a bus lock but to be fair it triggered after I plugged a little air pump into relay box 2 to test a load...
But why would I have a water leak lock with #2 off?
LOL I'm so confused. You think the RA* needs the factory reset?
Thanks for all the help.

Re: Bus Lock - RA*
Hummm. It is not supposed to have bus lock because of a load being plugged into the relay box.
PM me your address. I want to send you something to test.
