This being open-source etc. I was curious if anyone had done a write up on DIY wifi module? I love the price on the one offered here, but I can't help but want to mess with DIY WIFI with stuff I have setting around. For example, linksys/cisco routers.

Always looking for the next DIY project.
IF this is possible..I guess I would need to learn the leads for pinouts
Thanks anyone for helping

Basically, you need to convert UART to TCP and send that to the reefangel.com server.
There is only 4 wires needed: VCC, GND, TX and RX

Hi Drew
Did you get the wrt54g working? I have one of those somewhere in the house.

Nope...never got the last bit going. Ended up going with the Ethernet option.

For the cost and ease of use you can't really beat the wifi adapter if you're wanting to use wifi. I've looked at the individual components involved and there's no big markup going on unlike most other products in this business. On top of that you get the RA integration and excellent support. I'm very happy with the whole RA product in general because it's good value, great support, open hardware, and open software. All things I'm happy to put my money towards.

This was a thread based on DIY tinkering...not based on saving money or reducing RA sales.
