My main tank is in my kitchen and my sump/fuge/etc are in the basement. I bought a second relay box to run things in the basement.

So my question is: can I use a generic USB extension cable to extend the cable that "seems" to be USB to mini-USB? I just want to make sure the pin-out is the same, etc. and that I do not fry anything. :^)

Yes, cable is USB. Make sure you get a good quality shielded cable if you are extending it or you may experience interferences coming from noise that gets absorbed in the long run.
