since I have added expansion hub, orp, relay box, and pwm modules the phone doesn't connect.

it appears to be updating the portal and the client app. but not the phone it continues to error out.

I uninstalled the app from the phone and re-downloaded it. no change.

any ideas?

I think you need to increase the buffer on the wifi attachment.
You will need a serial terminal, like putty or tera term.
If you are using Mac, you can use coolterm.
Connect to the wifi attachment at 57600 baud.
To enter command mode, you need to type $$$

I downloaded tera term, not sure how to use it.

Check the wifi manual.
