Temp Probe Pin out ?

Hi - my temp probe cable broke (by the connector).

Having a bunch of computer fans around with similar connectors, I figured I would splice the wires and reconnect...no go.

When I do this both temps say error.

Is there a twist in the wire somewhere? Can someone shine some light on this?

Doesn't seem to help. This should be a no-brainer right? I reconnect the wires and it should work?
When I do connect it, it makes the first temp reading (along with the other readings) say error.

You may have a broken wire somewhere, or a bad connector. I had a similar problem when I built an extension cable out of old fan parts. My connector had an intermittent open that drove me crazy!

I cannot understand how that works.

The connector I was using only made contact part of the time, for whatever reason. Try replacing the connector again, and post some pics of your wiring and pinout. It's hard to figure this stuff out without pictures.
