Water Level Expansion Question.

I should be getting my Water Level Expansion tomorrow, but I have a question about how to mount it.
The manual say"Immerse the PVC pipe in water until it reaches the PVC adapter. "

So I've got to cut the PVC pipe down to the point where the PVC adapter is at the proper water level in my sump?
Does the bottom of the pipe sit/stand on the floor of the sump or does it nee to be raised of the floor a bit to allow water to get into the pipe?

I would also like suggestion about how people are securing it in place so it doesn't move or tip over in the sump.

1 more question. (I was going to say final, but there is always more).

When I load the "Water Level Expansion test code" does that overwrite any code I have in there already like my skecth or does it add to what is there?

That is only for the calibration process.
You don't need to cut the pvc pipe.
Although, you can use a longer or shorter one, if you would like to.
It comes with a 9" pipe.
This is how I have mine:

Everytime you load a new code to the controller, it erases the prior code.
But, don't be afraid of loading new codes... It's very simple and fast. You can always save your code and reload it at any time.

Thanks Roberto.

So I could calibrate it with just the PVC adapter, and no pipe and then add the length of pipe I need.
Again can it sit on the floor of the sump or does it need to be raised up an inch or so, so that water can flow in and out.

Once I calibrate it and test it with the test code is there any code I need to put in my sketch to get it to run properly or is it in the libraries now?

Same with the WiFi. once I load test code and test it do I just reload my code and it will work?

I'm sure the questions will get less and less once I get it set up and going, but thanks for all the help.

No, you need the pipe to figure out where the 0% if and 100% is.
You don't need to actually load the test code. It's just an easy way to figure out if you got the module working ok.
You could go straight to wizard if you wanted to.

So what if I don't have enough room to stick the full 9 inch pipe in the sump to get the PVC adapter to the water line.
Can I calibrate it in my main tank?

Oh yeah... You can do it in the main tank, in a jar, in a flower pot or anywhere it would be more convenient for you.
Once you gone through the calibration, it is stored in the memory and you can move to your sump where it would be mounted in place.
I just stick mine in the sump sitting on the floor. Water will find its way inside the pipe.

Great. It and the other board actually came today. I wasn't expecting it until tomorrow.
I'll send the old board back tomorrow.

This is a question that I'm pretty sure I know the answer to, but I want to confirm it.

When you calibrate the Water Level sensor you need to do it with the length of pipe you are going to ultimately use, correct?

Whenever I am delving into a new area I tend to be overly cautions and ask a lot of questions I think I know the answer to because I don't want to make a mistake and ruin something or have to do it over again.

Best way to go! Yes you calibrate it with the length of pipe you will be using.

I'm try to calibrate and set up my Water Level Expansion and the manual says...

1. Using the joystick, navigate to “Water Level Calibration”.

I don't see that option on my standard menu.

Feeding
Water Change
ATO Clear
Overheat Clear
Ph Calibration
Date/Time
Version
Exit

How do I calibrate it?

Your code doesn't have water level expansion enabled. Make sure you check mark water level expansion on the wizard.

OK. I thought it was there by default.
I was going to calibrate it before I was actually ready to set it up in the code.
I need to d something with my de-nitrification chamber before I set the Water Level up because I don't want to have the Water Level kick in when the de-nitrification start to draw water out of the sump to exchange the water in the chamber with new water.

This little nugget of info would be great in the manual. Something about adjusting the length of pipe to the length you're ultimately going to use for installation, before calibration, and then calibrating in a flower pot/vase/whatever/ is cool as long as you get it up to the sensor so that the sensor understands the bottom and top of your pipe.

This wasn't clear to me in the manual but thankfully we have the forums! :)
