LED Dimming Module

Post by fish76 »

I currently have a BoostLED controller controlling my DIY LED setup. I'm able to on the fly to adjust intensity & duration for each of my individual LED channels (3 total) directly on the controller. I'm making my build list for a RA setup and I'm debating whether I should buy the dimming module or just use my existing BoostLED controller. Are you able to control intensities and duration directly on the RA controller? Or do you need to upload the script everytime you want to adjust either intensities/durations?

I'm not sure of the answer, but I'm interested too, so I'm tagging along.

You can control them via the portal if you have the wifi adapter.

Edit: Well I can control mine, but they are a DIY set up. I guess it would depend on the type of driver they use and how it does dimming.

topjimmy can you adjust the percentage that they are on IE change from 50 to 75% or is it just an on/off?

You can adjust percentage of start and end of the slope/parabola in the portal as long as you are using internal memory.
You can also use the android app to change the internal memory which would change the % of each channel.
Hopefully in the next update or two, Curt will have implemented the newest addition to the libraries I release last patch, which would let you override the % at any give time with the android app too :)

Thank you Roberto.
I knew there was a way, but I forgot about doing it through the internal memory.

My DIY setup is w/PWM meanwell drivers and I intend to get the wi-fi module

Sorry for my ingorance since I'm just learning up on the RA, but what does it mean when you say "portal" and "internal memory"? Does that mean it can be changed via the web-based interface? To be able to change the intensity percentages/start-stop settings on the fly, is that custom coding that needs to be written or is it a default feature using the standard RA wizard to generate the code?

Will it eventually work with the iPhone app also?

Portal: http://forum.reefangel.com/portal.php
You won't be able to access the internal memory section though. You need to have a controller to be able to access that section.
The wizard generates all the code you would need to change the settings through the portal.

Thanks Roberto, very cool. Just so I understand (sorry), based on that screen, only % can be changed and not start/stop times then?

You can do all of it :)
turn on/off time and start/end percentage and duration of slope.
It's all there :)
