WiFi Add-On Stops Updating Client

Howdy,

To begin, I received along with my RA Plus a faulty USB/Com cable. Luckily a few reef society member in my area have RAs also and lent me a spare. I did officially contact RA today with RMA request information.

However, the issue at hand that I cannot resolve is with the WiFi add-on. Specifically that it appears to 'drop' the connection to the Reef Angel client after only a few minutes and the connection doesn't resume.

What I have done on my part:

Scoured the forums here for similar instances.

Un/reinstalled RA Arduino

Flashed the RA to factory settings

Initiated Memory on RA

Upped the WiFi test loop

Ran the Arduino Wizard

Installed/ran ReefAngelWifiUtil.exe

Configured WiFi router WPA2-PSK AES

Set an isolated channel (11) for WiFi

Reserved IP address and port 2000 for RA

Removed RA from router firewall

The RA is on a LAN not connected to the internet, there aren't any other devices on the WiFi, and MAC filtering is on.

Here is the WiFi Settings dump:

Code: Select all

CMD
get ip

IF=UP
DHCP=ON
IP=192.168.2.3:2000
NM=255.255.255.0
GW=192.168.2.1
HOST=198.171.134.6:80
PROTO=TCP,
MTU=1524
FLAGS=0x6
TCPMODE=0x0
BACKUP=0.0.0.0
<2.38.3> get w

SSID=belkin.ea3
Chan=0
ExtAnt=0
Join=1
Auth=WPA2
Mask=0x1fff
Rate=12, 24 Mb
Linkmon=5
Passphrase=**********
<2.38.3> get u

Baudrate=57600
Flow=0x0
Mode=0x2
Cmd_GPIO=0
<2.38.3>
Please advise.

Try updating the firmware of the wifi attachment.
Use these commands:

Code: Select all

ftp u
save
reboot
This will put you on 4.00 firmware instead of 2.38.3
Then, you need to change one other setting. Roving defaulted the join setting to 0 in this firmware for some reason:

I ran into another snag, namely I cannot connect to the FTP server via the wifi add-on.

I did manage to download the .img file and have it locally, though short of setting up an FTP server I have no clue as to how to get it on the wifi add-on.

Here is the dump:

Code: Select all

CMD
set u m 2

AOK
<2.38.3> set d n www dot reefangel dot com

AOK
<2.38.3> set i h 198.171.134.6

AOK
<2.38.3> set i r 80

AOK
<2.38.3> save

Storing in config
<2.38.3> reboot

*Reboot*CMD
ftp u

<2.38.3> FTP connecting to 0.0.0.0
FTP timeout=2
Ignore the 'dot'. I'm still too new to post links.

You are missing the ftp address:

Code: Select all

set ftp address 198.175.253.161

Ok, so I got the update. What a PITA!

I had to use the included wifi tool to set up the wifi network, then use the wifi contribution tool to update. all the time using the roving networks instruction set.

To make it all that much easier, no where does it say that the wifi router has to have a WAN connection to the internet.

Hoping this fixes the dropped issue.
