Float switches inop

Post by N2VSW »

Hi there,
My Reef Angel has been working great for almost two years now. Today I noticed the red light on and assumed that my top off container was empty. It was still half full but my sump level was low. I checked the floats and they were not stuck. I manually tripped the floats and nothing. I verified my top off pump works by plugging it into a wall outlet. Where do I go from here?
Thanks

I checked that first and cleared the overheat as well. This morning I heard the top off pump turning on and off sporadically. It was still plugged into the relay box and the water level was low but I didnt have it to my make up water. I manually raised and lowered the floats and it would work sometimes. It was erratic at best. Raising the floats would stop the pump but sometimes it would be immediate and other times it would be 4 or 5 seconds before it would stop. I dont know if the problem is in the relay box, the head unit or possibly the magnetic reed switch in the float sticking???
