Testing

Has any of the hardware components been put through any official CE/EN testing?

I realise this is essentially an OpenSource project... But since it is possible to buy manufactured components, do they come with any form of tested standards compliance? ... I cant seem to find this info anywhere...

Hi Guys,
Well its been nearly a week... Lots of views and no reply...

The controller looks very tempting, I can see endless possibilities, I have the whole scheme setup in my head already... Open source is great for repair and debugging, with all the heavy R&D lifting already done. Awesome job. Really.

But I'm just a little gun-shy on the mains voltage switching... Since the device is switching relatively high voltages from a wall socket (ability to supply a very large current - 10A), the effects of something going drastically wrong is always in the back of my mind...

In particular, questions like "would a failure here be covered by insurance if mains connected device has no approvals?"...
Simple things like the absence of a fuse on the supply line, and no response to my original post simply add to my worries...

Is it possible to get a clear cut answer that outlines any form of formal compliance testing carried out... A simple "none" (if that's the case) will do.

Sorry for sounding like a PITA, but I think this request is not too much of an ask from a commercially available product.

Also, I would've done this via private messaging, but I am "not authorised to use this feature"

Thanks,
Worried Hobbyist

I think you need 5 messages to PM.

I have no clue on the answers to your questions. Maybe Roberto can chime in.

It has a breaker on the main supply line instead of a fuse.

There has been no compliance test performed.
I doubt there is any UL approved controller geared towards saltwater that is UL approved.

Thanks for the response guys. Much appreciated. The only reason Im asking is due to finding a saltwater controller with UL approvals. This planted a seed of doubt, but maybe I'm just being overly paranoid.

A breaker would be a good place to start... Is it shown on the schematics (Im assuming V8.1 is what one would purchase?), or is it a panel mount item that isn't shown?

Yeap. 10A breaker panel mount.
