IR control? Or other way to control LED?

I have a cad lights led fixture with single 12v power cord but with a wireless IR remote control. Is it possible to drive an IR blaster with the reef angel that could be programmer to control the light? Or would I need a different fixture to be controllable with the RA? Id like to use more than one light setting over the course of a day. Thanks in advance for any advice on this.

RA doesn't have IR capability.
The fixtures that RA can control are Ecotech Radion, Aqua Illuminatio, Ecoxotic retrofit and many DIY fixtures.

OK, I will have a PC that will be set up for data collection, and with an automation app (probably Girder) I will use to create a simple IR light controller. Girder would be able to schedule the IR commands to control the light, but it would be nice to have an interface that I could use to coordinate some actions with the RA.

Can the RA generate and send events to another system?

Can you explain how one would interface with such automation app?
RA can send serial commands to this app.

Girder should be able to receive events from a serial interface, or via some kind of network call. An event sent to Girder can be mapped to trigger any action.

If this worked, for example I could coordinate RA's wave maker function with a lighting sequence controlled by Girder on the PC.

Yes, you can send serial commands at anytime with RA

And I can send events via the wifi adapter? Hadn't realized when I posted this earlier it uses the same physical interface as serial on the RA. Thanks.

That is a tricky question.
Although you can send commands over wifi, you can only send to one server.
Usually people send data to the reefangel.com server to keep their webbanner updated, but you can send to any server of your choice.

In this context, commands = events? = data?

Guess I will have to try some things out.

Just to close this out:

Amusingly, although the remote control for the CAD Lights LED unit says "IR Remote Control" it is apparently not infrared, as it works in non line-of-sight, and was also not picked up by an IR receiver. It must use some sort of RF. For me, it's not worth trying to figure out. I replaced this fixture with an AI Sol Blue module, and will control it with the RA.

I wonder why they advertize as IR...
