Bus lock on dimming expansion

I keep getting a bus lock on dimming expansion. It allowed my tank to cool down to 76 from its usual 78 and up to 83 before I caught it on two separate occasions. It works for a while then locks up. I pull the USB cord out of the expansion hub the controller begins to work again. We then repeat with a bus lock. What can I do to make sure this does not happen again?

Could it be some bad connection anywhere with a cables?

I do not think it is a but when it happens again I will change the cable out for another.

The controller locked up again. I changed the cable and did not notice it lock this morning. I hope it does not lock up while I am at work today.
