it works and; Roberto i signed up for a free trial at dyndns.org and will canel later today and they are going to allow me one hostname and keep it updated as long as i sign in monthly. so sweet. thanks again. turns out i was so close all along, just one option/setting off here and there. oh and i paid netgear and pay centurylink monthly and they did not even know how to set up their own modem or router correctly (the biggest reason i could not get it to work). sometimes the best things in tech are free....
