Portal - Unreachable Address

Post by serhiyi »

I set up my RA very long time ago and everything works fine. For the most part I'm using RA App to control basic things.
I'm updating my lights and need to change timers and other things. The code I was using (with all tools) is long gone with my old lap top.

I connected to the Portal to see what can be done from this side. Unfortunately, I'm getting "Unreachable Address". The IP address the is shown on the portal is not my IP. I've read that it can't be changed on the portal itself.
I can connect to my controlled using my IP:2000 no problem.
I also see this on the portal - Last Update: 11/27/2020, 11:25:51 AM

So, there is some communication is going on, but I'm not sure how.
What am I missing? How can I update IP without reinstalling all the tools and reprogram everything again?

Or is there is simple way to update settings on existing controller?

Thanks,
rimai

Sounds like your port forwarding is not setup correctly on your router.

I was able to reach my controller from my phone without wifi using http://xxx.xx.xx.xx:2000. This tells me that port forwarding is working. Is there something else besides simple forward?

Just tried it now. Looks like it can't connect to my controller. I don't see anything in the logs on my router. Only entries for port forward when I reached controller from my cell phone using http://xx.xx.xx.xx:2000/r99 (getting XML with current values back).

So, the portal and uapp only use http requests on specific port to work?
I have port 2000 forwarding to 192.168.1.101:2000 set up.

When I use my cell phone, open browser and type http://96.xx.xxx.xx:2000/r99 I can see XML in response:
<RA>
<T1>0</T1>
<T2>0</T2>
****
</RA>

I also see logs in my router:
[LAN access from remote] from 172.56.27.49:32826 to 192.168.1.101:2000 Saturday, November 28,2020 09:38:03
[LAN access from remote] from 172.56.27.49:20404 to 192.168.1.101:2000 Saturday, November 28,2020 09:38:02
[LAN access from remote] from 172.56.27.49:63412 to 192.168.1.101:2000 Saturday, November 28,2020 09:38:02

I guess, the 172.56.27.49 is the IP of my cell phone.
So, it looks like port forwarding is set up correctly.

But I don't see any other traffic that should be hitting port 2000 (from Portal or uapp).
The Portal does not have correct IP so it explains why it does not hit my router (too bad I can't update it).
But I specified correct IP and port in uApp. I don't have star or cloud wifi, so I did not provide user name and password (actually tried with and without with no effect).

I'm still missing something, but I don't know what exactly.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

When you go to whatismyip.com, it will show you your public ip address.
If you do it from inside your wifi, it will show the ip address that is supposed to be showing in the portal.
If you do it from outside your wifi, like your phone, it will show the ip address of your phone

whatismyip.com from my WiFi network shows same IP as my router tells me. This is the same IP I used with port 2000 and getting response from my controller.
But Portal does not show this IP and uApp can't connect with it.

This is strange.

Call me stupid. I found that IP address for the controller was in my profile settings. Updated it and portal now connects to my controller.
Unfortunately uapp still does not work for me, but that is another story.
