On the android app, any time i try to update, it gives me error 13 host unreachable. The portal works fine, i am sure i just don't have something configured properly. Any suggestions?

do you have other devices communicating with the controller at the same time? i have encountered that before if i am connected to the controller and then try to issue an additional command.

do you have device authentication enabled on the controller?

I don't have authentication on it yet.

My computer may have the portal up, but nothing else.

Update

On the portal when i am not at home it tells me 'unreachable address' as well. I guess it only works correctly from my home computer. I don't know if this info will help with resolving the app issue or not.

ok. are you using your internal ip address, the public ip address or a domain name (dynamic domain name)?

are you certain you have port forwarding setup properly on your router? im just asking and making certain everything is setup properly.

I believe i set it up correctly but i probably didn't. I used a guide which i can't seem to find which had me set up a dynamic domain name and I tried to set it up as well. I also think i set up the port forwarding correctly but again i am not sure. Do you hate me yet?

Is there a way to check if the port forwarding is set up correctly?

So it seems the port forwarding is not correct, anymore. It was working for the portal but apparently stopped working on the 23rd. It was updating my temp and pH on my phone for a while but i was never able to control anything from the app even when on my home wifi but i was able to control it from the portal from home on my computer.

Lol...no I don't hate you. It is just part of getting things up and running.

I would get the port forwarding corrected and that should get things working.
As for the dynamic dns, using the one provided by reef angel is probably the easiest (once you have port forwarding working).
