Do you know how much current the drivers are drawing without the transistor? If "think" each know has two drivers on it already from what I've heard.

Has anyone had success implementing this mod to IT2040s?

That looks like scurveyrat's dimmer. He posted it here

http://www.wamas.org/forums/index.php?/ ... _p__531088

You might even have used his shot :)

I would say the vr and vr- would be the ones you need to send to the dimmer and the sw would be the ones that have to be jumpered.

Does this work with PWM dimming port? I only have RA+ with PWM. Do I need to either get the dimming expansion or another relay box with analog dimming to make this work?

So Reef Radiance DM-155e now has apex controllability. They are even selling a conversion kit. Seriously contemplating seeing if the kit is compatible with my light. The DM-155e does appear to be another D2040 variant. Very tempted but they are asking $69 for the kit.

All I can figure out in my head is using th i/o expansion hooked up to a dual relay unit and once the pwm comes down to 10% have the relays turn off and vice versa.

I have confirmation that the RR upgrade kit will work with other evergrow value fixtures. I've ordered two kits and will post pictures and results as soon as possible!

Have you got your upgrade kit and had a chance to try it out yet?

I just contacted the owner of RR to see a possible collaboration.
He's local to me, so it's just a very short drive to him. Hopefully we can find an answer to this question soon.

Awesome Roberto!!!!

Trev, I did get the kit and I did install it. I was waiting to get some issues resolved before I reported back. So far Rick at RR is being very cooperative and hopefully him and Roberto can iron out the issue. One of the problems is that it's not their fixture I'm working on :)

At the moment, the installation went smooth and it works to a degree, but not getting a wide range of dimming options and the range that I had before is very diminished. Hope to report better results soon.

I've been following this thread for a while and appreciate all the info here. One question though. Where do you get the connectors to attach the wire to the dimming ports and what are they called?

I see it's under order but not products. Is the item a single cable or pair? How long is it?

there hasn't been anything on this thread since mid August.
I think the D2120's have been replaced by a newer model that they are just calling Evergrow 2014 Newest Dimmable Full Spectrum
Does anyone know if this mod will for on these new 2014 models?

Also I can't find the RJ-45 kit that ReefRadiance was selling, do you think they stopped because the unit was replaced by this newer model?

RR is sending me new kits made for my light. I don't see why there would be any difference on the 2014 models. There have been multiple models of evergrow over the years, D120, D2040, now the 2014, etc.

RR is still selling the kit. Please note that they are NOT certifying it at all at this time for anything other than their products. You can find the upgrade kit it on the DM-165E product page, and a few of their other lights as well... The DM-132e, the Coral Pro, the DM-165M, and the Prostar 165.

Finally, since ReefRadiance is now a ReefAngel distributor and has certified their lights for our controller, I'd recommend skipping the DIY and purchasing directly from them the light you want :)

Sorry I've been silent on the upgrade, I've been waiting for them to fix the issues I experienced with their first kit and am hopeful that the next attempt will work better. Fingers are crossed.

What were the problems you were having with their kit again?

I would love to be able to get the lights directly from them. but they are a bite more expensive.
2 DM-132e's for $319.00 adding the kit brings it to just under $440.

I can get 2 Evergrow D2120's for just over $250.

I don't really need the kit, I would just get it if I bought the lights from RR to have them in there already and not void the warranty.

The issue with the kit on my d2120 was that it did not deliver a full range of dimming. I lost a LOT of the low end and some of the high end. I've since bypassed the dimmer and have shorted the power wired and connected the dimming wires direct to the dimming expansion. The kit does have a nice RJ-45 connector that I'm still using,

RR has apparently fixed the issue and is sending me new kits to test out. I'm waiting for them to be shipped at this point.

The ones that you listed are the D120.

Do you know the differnce between the D120, D2040 and the new 2014 models or is it all the same and they unit and they just change the names.

There are no more d120 (old case style) the only difference that i can see is the layouts. They're all the same.

Evergrow/Reefbreeders LED 0-10v expansion dimming

Post by lnevo »

Yeah well they all the same :)

Take the one that has the layout you like. When I bought mine it was the same layout as the Ocean Revive, ERC, and another vendor I was watching. The D120 case had separate power switches by the power cords. The newer d120 (d2040) whatever you want to call it used the same case as the IT series with the controllers. No power switches. Power switch was in the dimmer.
