Wifi dongle for star recommendations

Hey all. So I was going to run a cat 5 under the floor through the basement and back up to feed network to the star I have. Well that is a fail. The hole I was hoping to use won't work and I'm not drilling new holes in my floor, wall. Is there any wireless adapters I can use? Or will any of them work?
