Android Reef Angel Status
Re: Android Reef Angel Status
I don't know maybe it was just me but I think that if your in the app and you see a button that says "Get Version" people would think it's the version of the app.
That might not be a bad idea.
I like "Get RA Version".

sounds good. I just was struggling to come up with something last night and that was all I could think of. I will make that change before I do the full release.Sacohen wrote:I don't know maybe it was just me but I think that if your in the app and you see a button that says "Get Version" people would think it's the version of the app.

No problem. It looks really nice. I know you are busy and appreciate all you do for the controller.
I can't wait to see what your redesign will look like.

Re: Android Reef Angel Status
Curt are the calibration buttons functional yet?
When I press any of them I get "error retry count: 1"
Then "Parsing"
And nothing happens on the phone or on the RA screen.

my test setup is not at home right now, so I cannot test its functionality. I will have to look at the commands that I send and maybe it's as simple as me not sending the right value.

Re: Android Reef Angel Status
I looked into this more and I found some more information. I am sending the data correctly to the controller. The controller only accepts the command if the module is installed. There may be some improvements that are needed with the libraries and how the calibration is handled but it is hard for me to tell specifically without testing. I cannot test until later in the week when I get my test setup back.Sacohen wrote:Curt are the calibration buttons functional yet?

Re: Android Reef Angel Status
Is that even in the web api? I never noticed..
Re: Android Reef Angel Status
Yeah, there's /cal0-4 to enter into the calibration modes.lnevo wrote:Is that even in the web api? I never noticed..
So, what I need to do is test things in the libraries and confirm that they work properly. I think I may disable/hide those buttons for the official release until the calibration is figured out.
I know calibration was added in 1.1.0 because I don't have the commands in my 1.0.9 libraries on my laptop.

Thanks for the update, Curt!

and I looked into things more and I was missing stuff for the calibration. I know what I have to do now for it. I will be adding that back in once I get the dimming override added.

Re: Android Reef Angel Status
Curt;
Just an FYI...
I'm not sure if this has to do with you disabling the calibration or something else, but since my phone went to Version 0.9.4 yesterday I have been receiving "Error 22: XMLI/O"
Nothing major i't's only happened 2 times once at 8 am and the 2nd at 11 am this morning.

I don't think it does but I did get that error message myself. I'm gonna look into it more.

Re: Android Reef Angel Status
My Android App updated versions yesterday and I can no longer get updates. All I get is the error message "Error 22: XMLI/O".
The last time my phone updated was at 8:35pm. I need help.

Re: Android Reef Angel Status
did you ever get any other errors before the upgrade? does it happen immediately or after several seconds?kirkwood wrote:My Android App updated versions yesterday and I can no longer get updates. All I get is the error message "Error 22: XMLI/O".

that error means that the app had a problem reading the data from the controller.
try changing the read timeout to a value larger than 10 seconds, like 20 seconds.

Re: Android Reef Angel Status
I'm having the same issue with the error.. Happened twice last night. I randomly used to get a similar "bad url" error only while refreshing the app occasionally. Usually will clear if I try it a few times.

hmm. give the suggestion I mentioned above a try and see how that works.dapg8gt wrote:I'm having the same issue with the error.. Happened twice last night. I randomly used to get a similar "bad url" error only while refreshing the app occasionally. Usually will clear if I try it a few times.

Re: Android Reef Angel Status
I get the same error and previously received the timeout error quite frequently.
This happens no matter what the read timeout value is set to. If it doesn't pull the info right away it times out. I have never seen it update if it doesn't do it immediately.

Re: Android Reef Angel Status
So you would get the timeout error before the update and now you get the XML IO error just as often, correct? I just want to make sure I understand you properly.ReEfnWrX wrote:I get the same error and previously received the timeout error quite frequently.

Sounds like the wifi module is terminating the connection or data stream prematurely.
The error that is occurring has to do with the data stream being cut off too short. Prior to the last update, I was reading the XML data into a large string buffer. I would read it in completely, then process the XML string. Some people had errors happen because of the timing or the device (android device) taking too long to read the input. When I switched over to having the XML parser read the data stream from the source, that actually had fixed several issues people were having and took out another step in the chain and decreased memory usage. It even fixed the immediate, repeated failures.
So this is very interesting that you are experiencing a lot of the errors. I'm curious if fixing the wifi module connection/timeout data rate (or whatever it is....flush size or buffer size maybe) will help. Otherwise, I will have to investigate further and see if I can improve any other data connections or html/xml data reading. If you want to downgrade the app, I have the old version stored and you can downgrade if that works better for you.
Re: Android Reef Angel Status
That is pretty much my problem too.
I used to get the time out error, now I get the 522 error.
I didn't get either one that often.

Re: Android Reef Angel Status
Ok. So the problem still exists, it just has a different error code now because I cut out an extra step in the processing of the XML data.Sacohen wrote:That is pretty much my problem too.

Good to know. Time to start trying to track down other issues.
Thanks for the feedback and input everybody. It is very helpful.
Re: Android Reef Angel Status
This question is for those people who are having those timeout/xml io issues often...
In order to help me track down some of the problems, would you be willing to let me connect to your controller from my test environment (ie, my laptop running the debugger and an emulator) so I can see if that helps me out at all? If so, please PM me or send me an email directly so we can figure something out. Thanks!!

Re: Android Reef Angel Status
I would not say it is very often. My refresh interval is 15 minutes. I receive about 8-10 errors a day.
When updating manually I have noticed about a 10-15% failure, it is more likely to occur if you do repeated updates over a few seconds.

I noticed yesterday that my phone wasn't getting updates on any apps so it wasn't just an RA issue. Turns out that a google update had gone through on my phone and I needed to perform a reboot of the device. Everything working smoothly now.kirkwood wrote:My Android App updated versions yesterday and I can no longer get updates. All I get is the error message "Error 22: XMLI/O".

Re: Android Reef Angel Status
Alright, I've got PWM Override working for the Actinic and Daylight Channels. I have a double asterisk (**) being displayed in front of the percentage when it is overridden. Long pressing on the percentage will bring up a box that allows you to adjust the value, set or clear the override. I will post pictures later. I still have to implement this for the AI and Radion channels.
I have a question though. Did we want the app to auto refresh the screen after a successful update or just display a "Refresh to update display" like I do with the vortech page / override commands?
I don't really care either way, but I would like to know what everybody's response is on this.
Also, is the double ** ok for an indicator for overridden?
