Help from square one

Let me begin by apologizing in advance for my stupidity at coding. I knew this controller was DIY but at this point its getting very frustrating. Ive gone threw every step to change things just as the tutorial in RAgen says to yet when i load it it turns on and off as normal and everything looks successful but the "reef controller in demo mode" banner is still there. Im at a complete loss. Running Windows 7 home. It seems to me the tutorials im follow are completely successful but it still acts as if in demo mode....All i want is simple control over one light switch a feed mode and temp control but it seems like a complete impossibility right now. thanks guys for the help

It seems your code is not getting uploaded for some reason.
Do you have RA or RA+?

Can you make sure you have Reef Angel controller w/ optiboot under menu Tools->Board?
How many Serial Ports do you have under menu Tools->Serial Port?
If you have multiple ports, can you try any other one and see if the code uploads?
Also, make sure you are plugging the cable like in this photo: http://www.reefangel.com/images/ttl_cable.jpg

Just made sure of all of it and it's all correct. It seems to upload (off and on after/during upload) but then nothing changes
