I'm looking for a controller that will fit my needs and found that this is an option that is pretty good considering the price.

This will be my first tank and i'm currently just collecting equipment right now before i start.
Right now the only thing i can think of for a controller is

2 Light fixtures
2 Heaters
2 Tunze 6045 or 6025 not sure yet
Return Pump
Skimmer

So is there a point in getting a controller at this point? What's the difference between the plus system and the standard system? The only thing i see is that the plus has 2 float switches and a usb power cable which doesnt add up to be 50 dollars more in price

If you are undecided about a controller, look for the article on reefbuilders from Terrence.
In my point of view, you get a controller for another layer of security. Well, you get all the cool stuff along with it too, like checking your parameters from anywhere with your smart phone for example.
You just don't want to rely on a really tiny thermostat inside your heater and risk thousands of dollars of corals and fish.
Both models come with the float switches, btw.
The main difference is the memory size.
You can fit a lot more code on the RA+.

Ah, I see. Now if the main difference is memory size can I add on more memory later?

You could get the standard and buy the RA+ upgrade later.

Thankyou! One more quick question, If an item says it can be controlled by an apex does it mean apex controller only or would it be possible to control it on the reef angel also?

It depends on what type of equipment you are talking about.

Someone is working on a LED light fixture and i'm following along on the reefcentral forums and they said they're getting a controllable driver or some sort. If you're a member of reef central i'm reading the topic "Chinese LED lights" just wanted to know if i'd be able to have the sunrise sunset effect eventually if these fixtures are going to have the apex support

Most likely.
APEX has only one type of dimming signal: 0-10VDC Analog.
Just make sure you get the RA with Analog dimming signal.
