It's Here

Post by fatman »

My new Reef Angel arrived today and I just unpacked it. Will set it up tonight after all the kids go to bed. I'm so excited!

Started the install this morning. Didn't get far, the windows system won't recognize the USB device and install the drivers. Working on that after church today (hoping for some inspiration). I'll let you know.

Fatman,

Did you download the arduino installer from the main page? I'd install that first. then the hardware should be recognized.

Ok, so I have it running the lights, ATO, skimmer, main pump, and heater. I can see the temp and pH on my iPhone, but can't seem to control the relays on it or on the portal. I have set up a no-ip DDNS account and used that, still no go. Any help would be appreciated.

Also, I have the metal halide fan that I need to set up to run with the halides. so far all I can do is turn it on with the port and it runs 24-7.

Love it so far. One key for feeding and getting status report is great. Just want to use it to more of it's potential.

Thanks,
Fat

That's great!!!
You are up for a great start :)
On your iPhone app, make sure that you have the ddns on the address field and turn direct connection on.
The same thing on the Portal. Make sure to type your ddns on the RA wifi address like this: www.myddns.com:2000
Just to confirm, when you browse the above address with your favorite web brawser, you can connect to the controller and get the response "Reef Angel Controller Web Server", right?

Well, yes and no. I had it working earlier, but it dropped off. I added www.myddns,com:2000 and it came alive. About 4:00 pm it died off. So I reinstalled everything, took the plug and play off my router, manually did a port forward, reconfigured the WiFi module, deleted the settings in my DDNS account and re-entered everything. It ran for about 5 minutes and now I have an unreachable address error.

I'll start again in the morning.

Finally, after a week of reading and experimenting I have the controller operating the tank. The WiFi is ported to the portal and I can see it and make adjustments on my iPhone.

Thanks Roberto for all the help. And thanks to those of you who have developed applications to assist us and code we could copy and modify to meet our purposes and desires. I really like my controller and REALLY appreciate the community I've joined.

Thanks all!
