Try using the ssid and no password. Maybe it works.

Tried that. It turns the screen blank. The same result I get when I leave them both blank.

You may need to manually set it up then. Check the manual for instructions.

ok so for ssid i used my ssid, then for the authentication i used "none" it then went passed and gave this reading in the wifi utility

Please wait...

Setting up you Reef Angel Wifi Attachment...

---------------------------------------------------------------
your reef angel wifi attachment is now configured
-----------------------------------------------------------------

"wifi status*

Associated: false
Authenticated: false
DHCP: false
Ip address and port: 192.168.2.13:2000

If the blue led is still blinking. it means that the reef angel wifi attachment could not connect to your wifi network.

If you would like to connect to your controller from outside your wifi network, the TCP port 2000 needs to be forwarded to 192.168.2.13 ip address above.

this hast to be done on your wifi router.

Routers with UPnp capability and compatible with the UPnPlib java implementation can be automatically configured for port forwarding.

Trying to connect to your router....

Found router G Wireless Router...

Attempting to setup port forwarding...

Port 2000 is now being forwarded to 192.168.2.13

Ok now i have a slow blinking green light, i assume this is correct action... then i follow the directions on loading the wifi example code into the reef angel, i dont know what to change where, but i tried anyway.. i loaded the wifi code, then it said press joystick to continue.. i do this and it does nothing... that message goes away and nothing is happening..

i dunno if i loaded the wrong code or what..

does it seem that the wifi attachment is good to go, and that it is the code that is the problem now, or is it still the attachment...??

and the big question is.. what do i do now..? i am sorry to bother you guys so much, if i would have known this i probly would not have gotten it.. not trying to be bitchy i just am so frustrated that 10 hours worth of work and i have squat to show for it.. i had two freind willing to buy the whole setup i did, one works offshore and wanted to have a webcam and this to monitor his levels while out... i would have to go and help them both step by step, that is if i get mine going...

Yes, you loaded the wrong code.
You wer supposed to load WifiTestCode and Not WifiSetup.
When you loaded the WifiSetup code, it messed up the settings you had gotten correctly in the first step you described above. You can redo the 1st step again and it will put things back correctly.
Then make sure to load WifiTestCode this time.

Hang in there Addicted, when it finally comes together it's well worth it. Much of the really cool code has been written, so it's now a cut and paste operation to get some very cool features.

so the wifi worked for about an hour...

the green light flashes slowly on the wifi adapter, but the portal says unreachable address..

the portal on my phone just continually tries to update with no luck

the portal on my pc never did work.. lol

this sure is confusing to me...

Just thought I'd throw this out there because I hit the same issue. When using the wifi_utility, it seems to expect something in the passphrase field, even if you are using an open network without encryption. Without a passphrase, you just get a black screen. I entered a single space into the passphrase field and it seemed to do the trick.

Good catch. This has been noticed before. Maybe a comment should be added to the doc :)

Also, maybe you should protect your WiFi :)
