Get a cup full of tank water and place the probe inside of it.
What happens?

Can you check your probe??
Looks like it's gone bad then.
Does the glass bulb in the tip look intact and free of bubbles inside?
It could be bubbles in the tip or stuff encrusted in it.

there are bubbles in the probe on up where the probe is blue, but none that i can see in the tip. the prob is only a few weeks old

Can you check the BNC connector end?
Try twisting or plugging and unplugging or wiggling the cable.
Maybe a bad connection?

i borrowed my neighbors probe, calibrated it, i placed it on the head unit and it appears to be working. this leads me to believe that the prob has already gone bad.

Mine did similar after only a month or 2 of useage. How long do these things supposed to last?
