Wifi Set up

Hi All
total novice here.. firstly I am based in the UK so not sure whether this makes a difference but I have been unable to connect my wifi attachment to my network irrespective of the settings I have tried. I have looked at various threads and tried all the options suggested but still no luck - the website roving networks no longer exists and the link for the code to download does not work. I have opened the wifi set up accessory and that appears to be working but I get as far as it saying that it is setting up my wifi device and then it just stops and I never get an IP address or port.. getting really frustrated now!!
