PH Problems

Post by OceanWolf »

I was looking up the problems with PH Probes. Most of them say that if you have a stray voltage the readings go down and advice to find the problem component by turning them off one by one. I figured out that my problem is related to DC-6000 return pump that I control through the water level sensor. Interesting thing is that, my PH goes up instead of going down. I turned off the pump and the readings were back to normal. I also tried the probe in a separate container, that is also normal. Two questions;
- Anyone had any issues with Jebao DC pumps
- Why the PH goes up instead of going down?

Odd, a pH probe is really just a fancy voltmeter and therefore is often influenced by stray voltage. Sometimes I think it is more useful as a stray voltage meter than pH. I have replaced float switches, flow meters, and temp probes leaking voltage into the tank. I'm not sure how it would read a high pH? What happens if you put the probe in a cup of tank water outside the tank/sump?

I agree it is a bit odd. I placed it in a container our of the tank, it shows 8.12 which is normal.
