Did you setup your RA wifi address on the portal page?
Click the update button and make sure you use your wan ip address and setup port forwarding on your router.

I entered 192.168.1.3 but it still indicates unreachable address? Maybe I need to figure out my port forwarding on my router. will this be one of those annual fee websites that do it for me?
thanks

That ip address is internal ip address.
To find out your WAN ip address, visit
http://www.whatismyip.com
You don't need to pay any annual service.

tried it, updated to the IP and still getting the unreachable address. I think it may be an issue with my port forwarding. I am trying to set it up on my wndr3400 router but have never done it before.
thanks

yes, that's what you were supposed to do, but you still need port forwarding or everything trying to access the controller will be blocked by your router firewall.

I have been in the port forwarding setup and tried various settings. I will try and see if I can figure it out and let you know if I get it to work. attached is a screen capture of my attempt to port forward.
thanks again

Looking at that, you will want to add a custom service. Then make sure you forward port 2000 on it to port 2000 on your wifi address.

Now that you have that port open, try typing this inside a web browser.
http://PUBLICIPADDRESS:2000/
where PUBLICIPADDRESS is the ip address you get from
http://www.whatismyip.com/
while we are on the subject, is your wifi adapter ip address static? does it change at all? Are you able to view anything when you type this in a web browser?

His port is still closed. I had him check.
You didn't forward the port in the port range tab on your router did you?

If you are getting that, then your wifi adapter may have changed it's IP address unless you know for a fact that it's a static IP. I would make sure your wifi adapter is connected to your router and that you can see the router on your private network first before you try to get the rest of the stuff with the portal working. Otherwise we will be running in circles.

WIFLY-GSX is showing up on my Attached Devices page and has since I went through the installer.
I created my own static IP from a tutorial on the web.
see the updated attachment with two screen shots
thanks again for the help

Do you only have one green blinking light on the wifi module?
My offer still stands if you want me to see if I see anything wrong in your router settings remotely.

You need that in the port forwarding/triggering tab.

I just looked at your screenshot. If you assigned your desktop to have the static IP address, then we have a problem. The desktop cannot have the same IP address as the wifi adapter. Your desktop needs to just pull a regular DHCP address from your router.
If it does not, then your desktop and wifi adapter (for Reef Angel) will be fighting over the same IP address and nothing will work right.
SO....
- change your desktop IP address / settings back to using DHCP.
- Then make sure the wifi adapter is configured for the 192.168.1.6 IP address (by using the wifi utility).
- Reboot computer
- Reboot Reef Angel controller
- Test out this url in your webbrowser: http://192.168.1.6:2000/
That should fix things for you. Gotta make sure we can get the wifi adapter browsing on your internal network first.

not at home now but will try this. I can use my Android tablet to control the RA and the Client Suite from my desktop as long as I am in network. Just not able to make the port forward accessable from outside the network. Big thanks to everyone to get me this far. Seedlessone spent a ton of time last night.

I didnt read every post but make sure you dont have a "second" firewall. Some cable / dsl modems now include a firewall that you also have to open up.

How many ports do you have on your modem? It may also double as a router set up in a bridged mode. Plug directly into your modem and get the address of it to log in. First check for secondary firewall and also a bridged mode option. You will still most likely need to adjust your norton 360 firewall as well. If you want me to check out your modem tonight send me a pm.

tried to do bridge mode with my ISP on the phone but was never able to get to internet in bridge mode. only network access. however i did open port 2000 TCP on the modem and turned off the modem firewall but now on canyouseeme.org i get could not see you Reason:connection refused. last night i only got Reason: time out. so i am making progress but #%^&*(^%$^&*(&^%^&*(*&^%$##%& rant sorry. still no luck. tried it with norton completely disabled also and same Reason:connection refused

Still a firewall issue. What is your modem model number?
Also... You did have the wifi plugged into the RA when you checked canyouseeme.com, correct?

got my modem bridged, no thanks to centurylink that totally wasted 5 hours of my time and did not do it correctly and then said "well i guess it won't work"....silence....But nonetheless I got it to be bridged and I can now see port 2000 on canyouseeme.org. but the RA portal is not currently working. I will run through all those steps and report back if I have any issues/questions. thanks again guys, it has only been a problem with my providers servic and equipment or lack therof

it does take it a few minutes for the dns entry to update. what does the no-ip site say as your ip address? does what it has in it's configuration match what your public ip is?
