Waveline control with Jebao harness

After modifying the Jebao control cable to accommodate the 0-5v PWM signal coming from the ATO pins on the controller, I noticed that the Jebao cable and the Waveline DC10000 II pump that I wanted to control has the wrong cable terminator -- unlike the Jebao pumps which have the female terminator coming off the pump, the Waveline has a male terminator coming off the pump, which you can't connect to the Jebao control cable (since it, too, has a male terminator).
Searching the forum, I see that this has come up before, and someone even tried cutting the cable off of the Waveline controller to wire it to the control board, with no luck.
Would it be helpful to measure the output from the Waveline control box with a multimeter (I may be able to find someone at work with an oscilloscope, if needed) to determine if it's just a simple pin remapping? I'd really like to have dimming control of this Waveline, and it's not easily replaceable in my setup.
