Questions before I purchase

Post by Piper27 »

First off I am excited about this purchase, I almost ordered another controller and then I read some on what you guys offer thankfully.  I have a few questions before I order and I couldn't find an email so I figured I would post here.

What is the difference in the analog signal and the pmw signal?

Can I run 3 or more 8 outlet boxes?  If so will all be usable with the iPhone app and net module?  Also is it possible to keep one on the other side of the room to control a different tanks light setup?  I guess I am wondering what the longest cord setup you guys offer is.

What is the total wattage each box can handle?  I run halides and with the reefkeeper2 they had an add on where you could run a separate 2 outlet box off of another outlet.  Do you guys make those or are they not really needed?

The difference between analof and pwm is what type of dimming signal it will output.
You mentioned you are running halides, so I don't think thi would apply to you.
This is mostly for dimmable LED fixtures.
You can run multiple outlet boxes up to 9 total relay boxes, but the iPhone app only has the ability to control 2 of them as of right now.
You can control all 9 boxes at the portal:

The cords are 6 feet long, but there are several people that have extended it in several different ways, including different rooms and different floors. This will all depend on how much noise you have around the extension cables.
Each relay box can handle 1000W. There is no such thing as a high power box like the one you have mentioned. I've heard of a handful of people that have DIY such box though.

Thanks for the quick reply! I do have 12 diy LEDs and some t5s for some blue, the LEDs are dimmable too. I might add more soon. So which one should I get?

It depends of which drivers you are using.
What type of signal does your driver use to dim the LEDs?

The one I am using now is a mean well eln 60 48d class 2. It just has a dimmer knob on it so i am not sure what it's compattable with. Sorry if I sound clueless but I am I don't know a thing about LEDs.

Great, that's what I needed to know.
You will need the analog signal.
The driver you are using requires analog dimming signal.

Okay cool, so if I get anymore drivers they all have to be analog even if I use the add on led dimmer? Again thanks for being so quick, never been on a forum and gotten quick depots when I actually needed help.

Yes, you will have to get additional analog drivers when you get some more.
There isn't any forums quite like ours.
Our forum rocks :)
