Temp Probe thinks it's 185 degrees

Post by rossbryant1956 »

One of my probes recently decided my reservoir tank was way too hot...185 degrees. I promptly tested the water, of course it isn't, unplugged the probe for a day or so, followed the wire to see if I placed the probe too close to the heater (no) , and finally just ignored it until I could get time to mess with it.

As soon as tonite (or this weekend) I will swap the probe for a new one I just got but wondered what might have caused it. The current probe has been in use for about a year, code hasn't changed in months, etc.

Advice welcome. Thx

Can you check if the wires are ok.
They usually show 185 when it has a bad connection.

that's what the problem was...one of the wires came out of the connector on the extension cable. Are these things repairable or just throw-away and replace? Thx

does that little connector that plugs into the RA open or once attached and closed, it's done...

I never learned how to solder, may instead just splice two broken cables together to solve my problem.

The other day, for some reason my controller drop a nuclear bomb in my tank and was reading my tank temp was 631 C, room temp 972.3 C and pH 102.81.

And the best of all, the reading was the day after christmas and i was out of the city.
