Upload PDE/INO via wifi?

Post by sf340flier »

Quick question: When I need to upload a new sketch or change something on my RA, is there any way I can do this via the wifi? It's a little inconvenient to unscrew and remove the relay box and controller so that I can bring the unit next to my desktop.

In the alternative, is there a way to power the RA without the relay box attached?

Anyone have any ideas? Thanks!

It is not possible to upload code via the wifi unit due to limitations.

The alternative is to use a long USB cable to extend the TTL cable. You can find cables that have a booster built in and I think they go up to 50ft.

As for powering the head unit, you can buy a lead from the RA store, see http://www.reefangel.com/QuickViewUSBPower.html

If you purchased your RA from Roberto as a new item I believe it ships with the cable needed to power the RA from a USB port (power only via that cable, programming is via TTL USB cable)

I did purchase an RA+ from this site. Darn! I already ordered a new power cable, didn't realize they were the same:(

Probably not the last mistake I make!

It's always good to have a spare.. the cables are a little sensitive... actually the ports are just extra secure :)

I had the same question. Found the answer here. Thanks.
One additional part to my question is if use a long USB extension or bring my laptop to the head unit, do I need to power off the Reef Angel to unplug the Wifi adapter and plug in the computer or is it hot swappable?

Edit: RA does not, RA+ apparently does.

I got the RA and upgraded to the RA+. The more I learn, the more I wish I would have started out with the RA+.
