Issue with wifi
Issue with wifi
In the last week my wifi attachment has been an issue with getting updates.
Thursday around 2am I stopped getting updates on portal and android app (using the newest version). Before work I pulled the wifi cable out and it started working again.
It happened again Friday while I was at work, but within an hour it was working again.
And most recently, Sunday around 1am it stopped updating portal and phone app. Before restarting the wifi, I noticed that the green light was just on, no blinking. I could ping the ip address successfully, but the portal and phone app did not work. Reconnected the wifi and it works again slow blinking green light.
At first I thought it was maybe the new android app, but it is not. Maybe the newest libraries? It was working perfectly for the month I have had it up till this last week.

Issue with wifi
What version of firmware are you running on the wifi module?
Re: Issue with wifi
Is this what you are asking for?
On my RA display version:
RA Version 1.0.3
Wifi WDT

Issue with wifi
The software on the wifi module runs a different firmware. I would run the wifi module setup like when you first setup the module and click upgrade firmware.
Re: Issue with wifi
No luck upgrading the firmware. It starts the download, but errors out after the WPS download. Tried on both the desktop and laptop.
I am pretty sure I did the firmware update when I first set up my unit (2nd week of December).

Re: Issue with wifi
That's fine. you don't need to update the WPS firmware. It hasn't changed.
WPS is for the push-button technology.
As long as you have 2.38, you should have the most updated one.

Re: Issue with wifi
How do I find my wifi firmware version?
It looks like it happened again, no updates since 11:30am.

Re: Issue with wifi
use tera term or putty with the wifi attachment plugged into the usb-ttl cable.
make sure you are connected at 57600 baud. You can find more info in the wifi manual.
Then type $$$ within 1 second.
It will show you the f/w version.
While you are at it, type scan and hit enter and paste the results here.

Re: Issue with wifi
I have an access point within 5 feet of my tank. So that is not the problem.
Like I said, it's been working flawlessly before the library update.

Re: Issue with wifi
Next time it happens, please try this:
Is the module blinking blue?
Ping the wifi module. Do you get replies?
If you can ping, are you able to connect to RA using internal ip address? You can either use the smart phone app or browser to test this.

Re: Issue with wifi
It is still blinking green and I can ping the internal address. Home profile of the app times out.
Re: Issue with wifi
Strange...
If you can ping, you should be able to connect. You are the first that I see that can ping but not connect.
Are you able to telnet port 2000 using the internal ip address?
You can use your preferred telnet application. I like putty myself.

Next time it stops working I will try. Anything else to test when it happens again?
Re: Issue with wifi
Not sure if our issues are the same but I have a problem with my wifi where I can ping it fine but I'm not getting any data. On latest version of both wifi software and libraries. If I try and use the built-in wifi server (ie ip:2000/wifi) I get the bubbles coming up but no data. Using the Android app I always get Error 23: XML Sparser. I can however change the status of the switches like turning off the skimmer for cleaning etc but none of the values are updated to any monitoring device ie portal, web server, android app, reef angel client etc
This is the connection info on the Portal so I know the unit is connecting .. just not updating any information.

Re: Issue with wifi
Can you post your "get e" dump?
I wonder if it is related to the size of the tcp packet.

Re: Issue with wifi
Roberto,
Still not getting any data from the Head Unit using the built-in in http server. Is there anyway to reset/reload the built-in web server? I've also noticed if I've telnet'd into the device rather than using the USB cable I get randomly kicked off, sometimes within a second of connecting. Are there any log files I can check?
Justin
edit: I wiped all the config on the Head Unit .. reloaded preloaded internal memory and base Head Unit code, then reloaded my own code and I'm getting data from the web server again.
I'll monitor it and keep you updated Roberto

Re: Issue with wifi
I'm new here and this is my first post.
I'm having a similar wifi problem.
I need some outside help and this post was most similar to my problem.
The green light on the WIFI module is on, and blinking slowly, but my router shows the module is OFF (i.e. not connected). So, I can't receive any updates from the app or portal.
I do have a static IP and port forwarding set up. The WIFI has worked in the past. When I ran the WIFI wizard yesterday the module worked again, for a few hours.
My controller says version 1.02, my wifi wizard says version 1.04. Tera Term says I have firmware 2.38.3. I use the wizard for my code.
Other devices maintain their wifi connection in the same vicinity, and the module is able to stay connected for a few hours to days.
Anyone have further suggestions?

Re: Issue with wifi
Mine is acting up right now. Has not updated since 7:55pm.
I can ping the wifi and get a reply. But I do not have the android app working, or local address via web browser (http://192.168.1.105:2000/wifi)
Green light is just solid.
Any suggestions on other things to test tonight before I have to reset it?

Damn, I reset the wifi unit (just a quick reconnect of the wifi side of the cable) probably 10mins before your post. It blinked green, a few oranges, then slowly blinking green and all is well. So bizarre.
I will post the dump tomorrow night.

Re: Issue with wifi
I have the client installed on a Windows 8 desktop. I mainly use the portal and the iphone app at this time.
As I write this the wifi is working. I pulled the wifi module to perform the "get e". After I connected it to my laptop, My router recognized the connection as on. I then plugged the module back into my controller and it has continued responding to the iphone app and portal. But then, as before, I expect it is a matter of time before it stops responding.
Attached is the RAException log from the Client Suite. 1/9/2013 is probably when I installed the client suite.

Re: Issue with wifi
I did not get a chance to get the dump. Maybe tonight.
I have the Client & Gadget installed on my desktop at home, but rarely use it. I do have the Gadget installed on my work computer which is always on. That does seem to poll much more than the Android app (set to 30mins).

Re: Issue with wifi
I will say the Windows Gadget can be flaky at times. I've noticed odd behaviors when running both the Client and the Gadget at the same time. I would recommend disabling the gadgets you have running while troubleshooting your wifi issues.
Re: Issue with wifi
ok, I will try that as well. It would be nice to have it update on hover or even a timed update. Literately every time I look at it the updated time is within a minute.
