lost port connection

Post by aus996 »

Hi Guys, my airport had an update which has impacted the wifi module i think.
So went back to scratch and successfully did the inti memory and uploaded code so the controller is working but when I go into the wifi wizard i cant get a port connection as the first step, never had this issue before, picking exact same port as the successful upload, any thoughts?

It was totally blank when i noticed the error, reconnected it and it was blinking blue, so thats when I figured it needed to be reconencted/reconfigured. I went back to the usb TTl cable to go through the process again and thats where the issue arose with the serial port connection

Try hard factory reset using button/jumper pins or you may need to connect it with putty or another serial terminal to see what it is saying.

Hmm okay, i not sure where the hard factory reset button is located, is this on the main unit? I tried to connect with cool term but its not sending the string for some reason, it did before, although when i did log in initially the program switched of the RA program, not sure if this is what happens each time you connect to the port though

There is a button/jumper for hard reset inside the wifi attachment.
Please check the manual for instructions on how to reset.

Ok, let's try the cool term again.
Make sure you are using the same serial port and start with baud rate 9600.
Send $$$ to the device. If you get the command prompt, you are in. If you get nothing, disconnect and try 57600 baud and send $$$ again. You should get the command prompt now.
Make sure you send all 3 $ within a second. You can't pause between the 3 signs.

OK so i have disconnected the controller from the tank along with all the senors and got it plugged into another spare relay for power.
I can, through arduino run the initial memory upload and still upload code without issue.

When I open a connection the red light on he controller flashes rapidly

I put in the code ($$$) and press send (how this option works) but, unlike before, nothing appears to be sending to the port, i have tried both 9600 and 57600, i believe last time it was 57600 that worked.
Last time i was getting the 2.32 indication and could then scan, but not this time around. Not sure what I am doing differently

You are connected to the controller.
You need to have the wifi attachment connected to the usb-ttl cable instead.
That's what we are trying to get configured, right?
The wifi attachment, right?

Yes sorry, have tried both, just gave it another shot this morning. Wifi is flashing quick blue and slow green, have tried the cool term connection with both 9600 and 57600 but its still not sending the $$$ string like it did last time to get the 2.32 coding message, although the controller was plugged back into the tank with PH and temp sensors attached so i might have to retry it again this afternoon when I take it off and put it on the standby relay. I am beginning to think it could be an issue with cool term perhaps?

You don't need the controller to setup the wifi attachment.
Simply plug the wifi attachment into the usb-ttl cable.

Ahhh.
There we go.
You should be able to setup the wifi attachment without messing with Cool Term then.
Use the wifi utility to set it up.
