Starter tutorials

Post by Sacohen »

I'm going thru the RA ref guide 1.1.2.pdf from the RA "Where to start?" guide thread and they keep talking about tutorials, but none of the links work in the PDF.

Where have these been moved to?

1. Connecting the cables
2. About the preloaded code
3. Setting up your PC computer
4. Loading your first code
5. Return back to the preloaded code
6. Understanding the code structure
7. Activating a relay
8. Relay function: StandardATO()
9. Relay function: StandardLights()
10. Relay function: MHLights()
11. Relay function: StandardHeater()
12. Relay function: StandardFan()

Unfortunatly the growth of the Reef Angel and the variety of code options being developed by forum members has made the maintainance of the "Where to start" guide more than I could keep up with.

If anyone would like to continue my initial work and revise the guide I would be very pleased as I hope it has been of help to some people in the past.

We are in strong need of a comprehensive guide. I'd be happy to write a tutorial or two or give code examples if someone could make it easy to collaborate develop and develop an outline.. Maybe we can throw up a wiki somewhere..

A Wiki is the way to go, that way joint collaboration will spread the load :)

github has a wiki engine :)
You can even write offline and push your changes through git just like if it were code patch :)
jpalmer started something a while back, but also outdated :(

But you can type straight into the webpage too :)
Can't be simpler than that!!
Try editing or creating one page. I don't know if we need priviledges or not... :(

Most likely you'll need to setup privileges. I can type into the webpage :) as long as i dont have to fork / clone / commit and make pull requests...

Thanks everyone.
I'll follow this thread to see if there is anything started.
Until them I will try to figure it out and ask for help.

Thanks again;

So, it does look like you can edit as long as your signed into github.com. If someone wants to start formatting a bit and creating some outlines, I wouldn't mind filling in some tutorials, example codes, etc.

So, who wants to step up to the plate :)

There will be an increasing number of new users soon. Reef Angel is getting a lot of mentions as a controller for the WP40/25 pumps. I'll help out where I can.

I would also take a look at the project that started as the unofficial documentation for another controller as the layout and topics in that manual would carry over well. :)

Yes. I'm one of them.
Got the WP40 and am thinking about the WP25 and loved the way Roberto jumped on figuring out how to get it to work with the RA.

Well my system arrived today.
Now the fun starts.

I want you give everyone a big thank you in advance because I know I;m going to be asking some questions.
It may be a while because I'm going to try the wizard first and see what I can get done on my own.
