Display Goes Out

Post by fatman »

My display has been going out regularly. If I unplug the main AC cord to the relay box (shut everything down) it returns to normal. It goes white with grey horizontal bands fluctuating across the display. Everything else works, I can control it from my computer and android. Have to unplug and replug it in after about 10 seconds to get it to clear. Happens after about an hour of running normally. No expansion relays or other attachments (except wifi). Using 7 of 8 ports, not doing the wavemaker thing and just a normal display.

Anyone have a suggestion or do I need to send it in for repair?

I have seen the same thing. One interesting note is I have to power cycle the entire system not just unplug the cable going from the relay box to the head unit.

Additionally my wifi module will stop updating the web and I must reboot it as well.

Ok, so here is an interesting note. I just now had the lockup problem and the wifi going out. Tried rebooting by just pulling the VGA cable off of the head unit. As usual, no reboot happened. But, this is where it get's interesting. Leaving the system powered up I pulled the "USB" cable going from the relay box to the expansion hub and the system rebooted and the wifi came back to life.

Any thoughts Roberto?

EDIT: If it matters it is an RA+ module using the latest libraries

Roberto,

No power supply. This is the expansion hub you sell.

My display started doing the same thing that fatman describes. The screen goes blank with some static like black lines flashing across the screen. The system continues to work properly and the only way I know it happens is when I try to use the joystick to go into feeding mode. Since feeding mode is the first selection, two pushes on the joystick activates it. However, the only way to bring the display back is to unplug the VGA cable from the head unit and the screen returns. I'm not sure how long it takes to go blank again. I haven't changed any code for months and the head unit has never suffered from any water exposure.
Roberto any suggestions?

I have been getting this behavior on my RA+. Static vertical and horizontal lines and the status light lights up. Most times if I take the wifi attachment off and plug in the usb cable to my computer it clears up for a day or so, then right back to the messed up display.

Can you still communicate with the controller using the smart phone app or portal?

Yep, controller still functions normally, the display just goes all wonky. I can access from the portal, phone app and windows app.

Hey there, was there a solution to this problem? I am having the same issue but I just hit the GFCI test button to reset. Happens at least once a day. Kinda frustrating.

Did you try removing and placing it back to make sure the contacts are firmly in place?

Sorry I took so long to reply. No luck reseating all the cords.
Display still goes out at least once daily. I just keep resetting by
Pushing the gfci outlet test button.
