Wifi was working.. Stopped Last night

Post by goisles1 »

Hi,

Received my RA+ with Wifi yesterday and set it all up. Everything was working fine yesterday. It seems that around 10:20pm, the Wifi adapter stopped working. It's odd because SOME Wifi Functionality is still working:

*I CAN Ping the unit when connected to RA or PC using Serial Cable. (if I disconnect Wifi Adapter from either, pings fail. So IP address has not changed)

*I CAN control the Relay using the Android app (ex. Turn on/off Lights)

*I can NOT access the internal Web Site
*RA is NOT able to talk to the Portal (my last update is last night at 10:19 PM)
* Android app is unable to get status from the RA (Err 11 : Bad URL)
*I can NOT connect to the Wifi Adapter using the Serial cable any longer. This worked yesterday when I setup the unit and upgraded the Firmware.
* I tried to reset the unit using the Button, Blinks Green/Blue a few times then back to blinking Green. Can still ping the IP so I do not think the Fac Reset worked.
* I also tried to connect using the Terminal Software with no luck.

Any Suggestions?

Thanks,
Rob

try telnetting to the IP on port 2000 and then if you get a connection hit $$$ ( I think that's the string ) You need to do it quickly as the default settings time you out real quick. Also, did you change your code by chance? If the WiFi code was removed somehow in your INO file you may see this behavior... strange though.

Hey Thanks Lee...

Telnetting on Port 2000 works.. Timeout was crazy quick.. 3 seconds..

I changed the timeout to 30 seconds..

So.. the wifi adapter seems to be responding..

Before you replied.. I saw that I could do a Fac reset from the telnet session..

<4.00> factory RESET
factory RESET

Set Factory Defaults
<4.00> reboot
reboot

Unit rebooted and now I see a flashing Blue and Green LED. However, Still can't connect to the unit using the Serial Cable. And of course.. my IP info was wiped.. so I no longer have any access :(

So, when you type $$$, you can't get into command mode if connected though the cable?

Nope..

It looks like I connect, but the terminal window is unresponsive.. But I'f I disconnect the USB cable, my session drops. So I'm def on the right Com port.

And when I use the wifi_utility, I get this when I Copy to Clipboard:

Opening Serial Port...
Verifying speed at 9600 baud
Connected to serial port COM14
> $$$
> set u b 57600
> set s p 0
> save
> reboot
Verifying speed at 57600 baud
Removing connection to COM14
Connected to serial port COM14
> $$$
** ERROR - Please disconnect and then reconnect the Reef Angel Wifi Attachment from the USB-TTL cable and try again.

Yes, that's the AP mode.
You actually turn the wifi module into a AP and you should see a wifi network created now.
You can connect to it using your phone or computer and access the internal config webserver at http://1.2.3.4 if I'm not mistaken.
But, if you are not getting anything when you type $$$, there is something wrong.
I think we should exchange that module.
I did have a few units that are being problematic. I'm assuming it has to do with the reflow assembly.
The worst part is that I moved the assembly to USA so I would not have problems with the pcb assembly and that's what I get :(
I never had problems when I was assembling in China :(
PM for RMA

Last Question Roberto

Do I send the cable with it? If it can't be fixed will you send me a new unit with a new cable?

Thanks,
