I have a basement sump as well and decided to put everything in the basement including the head unit, relay boxes and WiFi attachment.

The issue with VGA cables is that all pins must be connected. Some of the cheaper ones dont and that is why they wont work.
I too have a sump room in the basement and the RA+ is located there. I use an iPad and the portal instead of the screen on the head unit. Many users do the same with Andoid's and smart phones.

Hi,
thanks for answering
my problem is a bad wlan connection in the basement.I think i must try it again, but this time with a wlan
repeater.
i thought, it is easier to take a longer cable

Not sure if you know, but most Wifi routers have an adjustable power setting and also changing the channel can help if there is another router local using the same channel. There are a number of Wifi Sniffers on the web some of them are free. They should be able to tell you the strenght and channel of all other local Wifi Routers.
Another thing that might help is an external aerial, take a look at the link http://forum.reefangel.com/viewtopic.ph ... al+antenna

Yes, if you have a bad connection add the external antenna to the wifi unit, its a very simple modification. Check out that link. It solved all my wifi connection issues.

You can also get one of those svga breakout:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004EE ... UTF8&psc=1
Then use standard a pair of CAT5 cables to wire them up.
