Android Reef Angel Status
Re: Android Reef Angel Status
Good idea.. Heck you can even Change the white wings to black
Re: Android Reef Angel Status
i should have some screenshots this weekend to get feedback. im leaning towards changing the icon to the white icon and then having it removed from the title bar in the app. this is the trend with the new material theme for lollipop anyways.
so be on the lookout for them.

Re: Android Reef Angel Status
I just posted this to the Google Plus community, I'm reposting it here. (Original link)
Here's some screenshots of the "new" icon and look. As you can see, I removed the actionbar icon and it's now blank next to the spinner. The Reef Angel logo is visible in the navigation drawer, which compliments the app along with its colors. Then, there's the nice white RA logo instead of the blue one, which is displayed in a launcher.
So this would be getting rid of blue icon to differentiate it from the universal app. Thoughts?

i may even have a pre-release for people to test by the end of the weekend. i can test the main stuff but some of the additional things i cannot test (vortech, radion, dc pump, etc).
Re: Android Reef Angel Status
Ok everybody. I need some help testing out the upcoming release of my app. I've changed the look around a bit and need feedback. Steve's already helping testing it out and he reports it working good and has made a suggestion for having a Dark theme to be more like the original look.
Regardless, I have a debug build created. This can be installed right alongside the regular build. It's called RA Debug. It does not copy any settings over from the main app. So you must input the host information in manually. Also, the Setup Wizard to configure the app is not implemented yet (I'm working on it and am about 50% done).
Here's the link to download it: http://curtbinder.info/apps/ra-1.1.0.beta1-debug.apk
Also, the changelog is not accurate that displays when you run the app. So you can disregard it.
What I'm looking for is feedback on how everything works.
Thanks in advance for testing.

- Does the navigation between sections and pages work as expected?
- Can you swipe between the pages without problems?
- Can you navigate with the navigation drawer properly?
- Does the section highlighted in the nav drawer match up with the section displayed?
- Does the back button take you back appropriately (it does not take you back through the swiping pages in the controller section, it just takes you back between navigation sections)?
- Does the information on the pages show accurately?
- Can you change the settings on the fly for pwm, vortech, radion, dc pump, etc?
- Miscellaneous UI displaying
- Functionality usage
- etc
Thanks in advance for testing.
Re: Android Reef Angel Status
So far I haven't seen any issues. I only have the DC Pumps so I'm limited in what I can test too.

awesome. the more the merrier. i want to get it nailed down and working properly for everyone.pandimus wrote:Testing also

The screen Label gets covered up be date and notifications
Re: Android Reef Angel Status
yeah. i knew it did that with the errors but had not seen it on the normal dates. I will look into either making the text smaller or adding extra spacing for that text box or even removing the text "last updated" altogether. any preference?pandimus wrote:The screen Label gets covered up be date and notifications

Re: Android Reef Angel Status
I like the last updated.. Maybe put it in the flags page?
Also long press on dc mode causes app to crash

ok, i will look into it more and see what i can find out.pandimus wrote:I like the last updated.. Maybe put it in the flags page?

as for the last updated, i may move it down to show on the pages below the swiping labels. ill have to play around some more this weekend.

Re: Android Reef Angel Status
I'm not having that problem.pandimus wrote: Also long press on dc mode causes app to crash
I keep it in custom and then the code the Lee created for me will randomly pick a mode every day.
If I make a change to the DC Pump mode's there is no way to get back to Custom mode from the app. I have to go to the portal to do it.
On the current app you have a clear button that will take any changes back to the original setting.
I think that needs to be on the DC Pumps page too, because if you change one of the values like the threshold you have to manually bring it back to what it was.
Re: Android Reef Angel Status
hmm...i will have to look into this. im not sure how to handle this because we are updating memory locations to make the changes. there may be some way to do this but i have to look more closely at the code in the libraries and ask the others about it.Sacohen wrote: If I make a change to the DC Pump mode's there is no way to get back to Custom mode from the app. I have to go to the portal to do it.

Re: Android Reef Angel Status
If there is a way to change custom memory locations you could input the memory location for DCPump_Mode and set it for 11 (?)... not as convenient as it should be, but should be usable...
Re: Android Reef Angel Status
yeah, like give the user the option to "save as default" for each of the 4 options or have a screen to "set defaults". then when they make the changes, they have the option to restore the default values or clear the value.lnevo wrote:If there is a way to change custom memory locations you could input the memory location for DCPump_Mode and set it for 11 (?)... not as convenient as it should be, but should be usable...
i like it. i was thinking something like this would be the solution. i do like it and can implement that functionality. thanks!

Just installed and set up.. Loving the new look and layout so far. Fits my Samsung galaxy screen perfect. I had issues if I wasn't in landscape mode with the original one not showing my toggle buttons fully.. Much cleaner imo great job so far..
Thanks
Thanks
My other hobby has 450rwhp and eats tires instead of mysis!
Re: Android Reef Angel Status
awesome. glad to hear it. i was going for a cleaner, simpler look. (even though it was already pretty simple). i was trying to adhere to the design standards better and make things more consistent.dapg8gt wrote:Just installed and set up.. Just figured out that my crash only happens on else mode.
Re: Android Reef Angel Status
ok. good information. i will look and see if there's anything specific that i can track down.pandimus wrote:Just figured out that my crash only happens on else mode.

Re: Android Reef Angel Status
i just thought of this.....instead of storing it on the controller, i could just retain the values inside my app. this could improve the performance by not having to query the controller for the values and not have to worry about memory location collisions. it would make it app specific though, which is most likely not a big deal. there would not be any other way to reset it from the controller.lnevo wrote:If there is a way to change custom memory locations you could input the memory location for DCPump_Mode and set it for 11 (?)... not as convenient as it should be, but should be usable...

Re: Android Reef Angel Status
I think you're overthinking my suggestion or maybe I didnt explain it well...
It you already have functionality to update custom memory locations he could use that method to change dcpump-mode....
But it sounds like you have some other great features in mind so dont stop on my behalf

im doing both.lnevo wrote:I think you're overthinking my suggestion or maybe I didnt explain it well...

yeah, i have the functionality to update custom memory locations. what he is referring to is like the clear override capability for the pwm devices. so he makes changes to test things out and he decides that he wants to be back to what he originally had. instead of having to remember what it was or go search for it, he wants to be able to "clear" the new setting and return to his original/ default setting.
since the dc pump stuff uses memory locations and does not have an override, you change it and it's instant. having my app remember what you want as the defaults seems like the most logical without modification to the libraries.
if im going to add the functionality, i might as well do it right and in a way that will be used.

Re: Android Reef Angel Status
What about moving the last update block to the slide menu to the aide
Re: Android Reef Angel Status
Like right below the ReefAngel logo?pandimus wrote:What about moving the last update block to the slide menu to the aide
Hmmm...I'm not sure how easily I can update the values in the navigation drawer. Also, I would be inclined to think that having the Last Updated time always visible on the screen is an important thing to know.
Re: Android Reef Angel Status
Just trying to think of how it won't Interfere.. 24 hour time.. No am/pm should keep it small enough
Re: Android Reef Angel Status
Actually it's fine now.. Seems it just a matter of that one digit..
