PAR expansion module
PAR expansion module
Hi Guys,
We've got new stuff coming up!!!
The PAR expansion module is an expansion module to measure PAR readings in your tank.
Don't settle with flux sensors that measure the entire range of visible light.
This PAR expansion module uses state-of-the-art quantum sensor that is capable of measuring PAR in PPF units (μmol m-2 s-1) in the correct wavelength of 400 to 700 nanometers (nm), which is used for photosynthesis in your tank.
Now, you can set the PAR expansion module and dial in your LED dimming lights to be at the exact range of PAR your corals need and never guess again!!
We all know that algae growth, detritus and many other factors affect clarity in water, causing the penetration of light that much harder. With this expansion module, you can compensate for those factors and adjust your LED lights on the fly to maintain optimal PAR measurements for your corals.
Pre-order it for a limited time discounted price of $250 while it lasts!!!

Re: PAR expansion module
Great job Roberto! Now we'll have to field questions on how do I set my dimmer to go to X par value!! LOL
Very cool addition to the RA line!!

Re: PAR expansion module
I really want one of these! I just built a new tank so no cash right now but if I can get the old tank empty and sold then maybe. Great addition to the RA lineup Roberto!
Re: PAR expansion module
Nice i want 1!
Re: PAR expansion module
So curious about the underlying tech. The picture looks like the apogee par sensor with a USB connector. Is it a different sensor that does I2C or is there an I2C to ADC in the USB connector?
This is a pretty good deal though. Lowest price I've seen for an Apogee MQ-200 is $335 online.
If you're handy with arduino it should be possible to make a regular interface for it so people without an RA can use it: nano $15, i2c lcd $10, case $8, battery adapter $2.
Maybe I'll try to talk my aquarium club into splitting the cost for one with me so we'll have a meter for the north side of town. The club par meter always ends up down in SE Ft Worth which is an hour and a half drive without traffic for me. DFW is BIG!

Re: PAR expansion module
Can the meter be submerged for an length of time? For example can I lodge it in my sandbed and leave it there to measure PAR at the sand bed layer?

Re: PAR expansion module
Is that the idea? To have continuous real time readings?

Reefbuilders writes about this expansion here:

200 liter reef cube + 1000 liter FOWLR
Re: PAR expansion module
You can already pre-order.
I'll have the first batch in a couple weeks, but it will be very limited quantity. Make sure to pre-order to get into the first batch.

Re: PAR expansion module
That's cool! It might be a good idea to include an adjustable dip stick as an
option to connect head probe so your hands wont get wet.

Re: PAR expansion module
Look how interesting chart I got:
My fixture actually overshoots the ramp up and then bring it down.Roberto.

When are these going to be available.
Re: PAR expansion module
Has anyone gotten one yet? I am curious as to the reviews of some users.

Re: PAR expansion module
I plan on getting one, but I'm Leary on if they actually work like I would need. No offense Roberto. I have complete faith in you, just it almost seems to good to be true. Lol
Re: PAR expansion module
Did anyone ever get one of these?

I noticed that this no longer says pre-order on the order page. Did anyone get one? I would like some feedback on it. I am still interested.

Re: PAR expansion module
Look who just came out with their own PAR monitor. Came out first right here!!! Go Roberto!
Re: PAR expansion module
Apex??? Yeah. They copy all of Roberto's stuff.
Who came out with cables for the Jebao first too.

Re: PAR expansion module
And the leak detector. Although not sure if Roberto's came out first, but either way it's better with the rope
Re: PAR expansion module
I think Roberto's came out first. I forgot about that.
I think they have an automatic feeder too, but Roberto discussed it first.

Re: PAR expansion module
I just got one of these and I cannot see the output anywhere. I see nothing on the latest Reef Angel UApp nor on the Web Portal. What to do?
