Dimming Ecoxotic Panarama Pros
My lighting is Ecoxotic panarama pro, two white, two actinic and two RGB. I was thinking of switching the panarama power supplies to dimmable meanwell drivers to do more lighting effects, sunrise, lightning clouds and such. Ecoxotic told me that it is not a good idea but I got the feeling they were just trying to sell me. Is my thought possible?
Re: Dimming Ecoxotic Panarama Pros
I have an Ecoxotic Panorama LED Retro 36 with the dimmable ballast. It dims great.
I also have a panorama pro (single module). I'm not quite sure how you could dim it without modifying the input connector. They have a single connector. I'm thinking it might be possible provided you could get a dimmable ballast that would output the voltage based on input. I don't know the specific specs of the panorama pro modules but I think they are the same as the Retro kits (same line and they look the same).
If you were to attempt this, I would suggest getting another one of their "splitters" and cutting up that cable instead of their power supply to get the proper connector.
That's just my thoughts though.

Re: Dimming Ecoxotic Panarama Pros
Thats exactly what I am thinking, but before I order six meanwell drivers, I am hoping to get input from someone who has tried this. Im pretty new to all this and have been shelling out a ton of money lately trying to get things the way I want.
Re: Dimming Ecoxotic Panarama Pros
I don't think you will find somebody who has done that on this forum (you might but possibly not). I think I'm the only one that's got the Ecoxotic LED's on here (or at least the only one that's said anything about it).

You are looking for a barrel plug...preferably 2.1 x 5.5 x 9 mm
google this - Barrel-Plug-To-Screw-Terminal-Mm-p-2348982 (cannot post links in this forum)
Or the ones I went with from Radio Shack were 2.1 x 5.5 x 15.2mm and require soldering but were in stock locally:
google this - radioshack 2103614
They are slightly longer but work fine...I also wrapped the connections in electrical tape to reduce any water or corrosion risks.
As far as Ecoxotic customer service...make sure you are talking to technical support and not the sales group. As is typical for anywhere, there is a knowledge gap between the two groups.
I have an panorama pro 24" fixture with 9 pro modules driven by meanwells.

Thanks Brian! Are you using eln-30-24p for the pro modules? Also do you have the controller to set up for dimming (sunrise/sunset/clouds etc)?BrianB wrote:You are looking for a barrel plug...preferably 2.1 x 5.5 x 9 mm

Re: Dimming Ecoxotic Panarama Pros
Each of my 9 pros requires 19watts. I have 6 x 445nm and 3 of the mixed. I looked into getting a 120 watt driver for the 6 x 445nm and 60 watt for the mixed but there did not seem to be a price break on them so I went with 3 x ELN-60-24P. I do not currently have them hooked up to a Reef Angel controller but I am using another Arduino based controller for just the lights.
