WiFi setup...does this mean it didn't set up right?
WiFi setup...does this mean it didn't set up right?
Ran the WiFi utility and it gave a IP address and port of 0.0.0.0:2000 and DHCP:false
Green led blinks slow but then every 20 seconds or so the blue led blinks a few times then goes back to green...
I tried the wifi test code upload and it didn't work.
Does this screen shot look right for the Wifi utility setup???

My suggestion is check if your router is setup for WPA2-PSK with AES encryption.
Roberto.

Right now it is
Security type: no authentication (open)
Encryption type: wep

It's not supported
You should really think about placing some security in your wifi network. Anyone can access it now without any password and steal any confidential information you have in your computers.

Oh, ok.rimai wrote:It's not supported

I'll go change it and see how far I can get into the wifi setup...
Re: WiFi setup...does this mean it didn't set up right?
Ok.
I got the wifi working and confirmed it was working on my android app on my phone. I also confirmed that the port forwarding was working when I switched my phone to 4G and turned wifi off on my phone.
However... Nothing works unless my laptop at home is running
With the laptop open and running everything works fine, shut the lid (laptop goes to sleep) everything stops working. I'm not super pc inclined but since I made changes within the router for port forwarding for instance why would the laptop being on or off have anything to do with this.....?
What did I do wrong....?

Re: WiFi setup...does this mean it didn't set up right?
Did you do the forwarding to your laptop or the wifi module? Did you setup the windows client?
Re: WiFi setup...does this mean it didn't set up right?
Not sure...lnevo wrote:Did you do the forwarding to your laptop or the wifi module? Did you setup the windows client?
I used my laptop to install everything on the wifi module. Got that setup then I watched a YouTube how to clip on how to port forward my at&t 2wire router which worked (again as long of the laptop was left on). To set up the port forwarding I logged into the router through Web page and made an exception in the firewall rules and listed the port (2000) to forward.
Does it sound like I forwarded to the laptop instead of the wifi module?
Re: WiFi setup...does this mean it didn't set up right?
Well now I check my router page and it shows the reefangelwifi as inactive
I checked the connections and it was green. Disconnected and reconnected to try that and it was green again but still shows inactive on my list of wifi items within my 2wire router page....
Why would it become inactive??? Especially since the wifi is still green and connected....????

Re: WiFi setup...does this mean it didn't set up right?
get the IP address that you setup in the port forwarding.
try http://ip.address.here:2000 in your browser. What do you get.

Now I get "could not connect" but my router page shows the reefangelwifi as inactive still (even though its blinking green and worked fine before)
Re: WiFi setup...does this mean it didn't set up right?
Since its showing inactive I went and tried to reinstall wifi from the wifi ultility and now I'm back to the same original problem I was having where it gives me an ip of 0.0.0.0:2000. I just keep going backwards in this deal....
Early I fixed this problem by changing my wifi to wpa2-psk and then it setup fine. Now it's still setup on wpa2-psk and it just won't work....

Re: WiFi setup...does this mean it didn't set up right?
Can you ping the original ip address?
Use teraterm or putty to enter command mode and see what the "get i" dump tells you.
Look in the manual for instructions on how to enter command mode.

The original ip address comes back as Destination host unreachable.
Will check witb teraterm...
Re: WiFi setup...does this mean it didn't set up right?

Something is wacky with my wifi....

Re: WiFi setup...does this mean it didn't set up right?
and now it quit working again completely...
Re: WiFi setup...does this mean it didn't set up right?
It sounds like your laptop is sharing your internet connection and your RA is connecting through that... that's what it sounds like..
Re: WiFi setup...does this mean it didn't set up right?
Ya it does... Why I wonder?
Re: WiFi setup...does this mean it didn't set up right?
Wait I might have it working (no idea how or why). When you have no idea what your doing you try anything and everything till something happens lol
I do remember I changed the ra wifi to a set ip address instead of the pool it was in (I guess that means it was being given a random ip address each time -?) on my router then assigned the same ip address in the graphical wifi setup program.
