Unreachable Address

Post by kmw504 »

After I plug my Wifi Attachment, i am able to get on the portal and it functions properly. within 10 minutes the portal
says : Unreachable Address.

Any clue why this may be happening?

Lights are green, if I ping the IP address, it sometimes works, other times I get a dropped connection error.

The Modem is a good 15 feet away with no obstructions...

any and all thoughts and recommendations would be appreciated!

Did you assign a static IP for your wifi attachment in your DHCP settings?

It sounds like a port forwarding issue also. When you first log in to the portal it uses the data in the database that your RA sends out. After 5 minutes it refreshes by querying your RA and if the incoming connection is not working you'll see the unreachable address *after* it looks like everything is ok.

As far as the pings..which address are you pinging? If your wifi is truly going online offline, usually upgrading to the 4.x firmware fixes that. But you should be seeing blue blinking lights not green on your wifi when that happens.

Your Reef Angel Wifi Attachment is now configured with the settings provided.

If the blue LED is still blinking, it means that the Reef Angel Wifi Attachment could not connect to your wifi network.

Found router CG3000D

Port 2000 is now being forwarded to 192.168.0.19

You need to configure your Router to reserve a specific IP address for your Wifi Attachment's mac address. Otherwise anytime your Wifi attachment loses connection and reconnects or your router resets you will have a new IP address for the wifi attachment. Now port forwarding will be forwarding to the wrong IP.

It's also safest to setup port forwarding manually in your router as well.

That is correct as far as port forwarding goes. The issue you are having is the Wifi unit is being assigned random IP addresses. You need to assign a static IP address to the wifi units mac address in your DHCP settings so it will always have the same IP address...

It is also referred to as reserving an IP address.. Typically in a DHCP tab or wireless network settings tab where you should see the IP address of all the devices connected.

Are you able to connect to your module using the internal ip address and the phone app?

Also, what happens when you browse that ip address?
