Just got a reef angel

Post by adrenalinejunkie »

I just got a used reef angel and not sure how to tell if its a reef angel or reef angel plus. How do I tell witch board I have the reef angel or reef angel w/optiboot or reef angel plus? Also under tools witch programmer should I be using? I think I have picked the wrong settings because ever time I try using the wizard it says that there was an error and cant figure out witch one to use

Open it up and look at the writing on the board to be sure.

Mine says Reef Angel Plus Main Unit. Sounds like a non-plus. Easy upgrade if you decide to upgrade. You can still get a few things done, it will just be tough to squeeze in.

I have set up my controller to run in the past but now I have changed lights and added a few things and now every time I try using the wizard and uploading a new setup I get an error that says not in sync:resp=0x64

Make sure you have the correct com port on menu tools->serial port and that you have Reef Angel w/ optiboot on menu tools->board, because your board is the old standard RA board.

Let's start with the basics.

Your RA is connected to either the relay box, or USB power cable connected to a temperature port on the top and the screen is on.

The programming cable is connected to the bottom of the RA with the black wire all the way to the right. There should be an extra space on the left side of the RA.

Go to Control Panel, Devices and Printers. Look for "FT232R USB UART" (with the programming cable plugged in).

If you have multiple serial ports available under Tools in the Arduino program, try a different one.

Yes that's all correct and I only have one port to choose. I was able to upload the code that I'm currently using by using the wizard when I first set it up but now that I have change lights I wanted to change it and every time I try with the wizard I get an error uploading

Looks like there is something wrong then.
It would be either the board or the cable that is preventing this from working.
If you would like to send both of them back for analysis, send me a PM.
