ORP Probe not working... I think

Post by thekameleon »

So I got my 470mv solution today and I tried to calibrate it. When I used the BNC terminator I got around a value around 1568, then I connected the probe and put it in the 470mv solution and it comes up 0. SO once calibrated it shows up as zero. Just to see if the probe works I put it in the tank it and check the calibration menu just see if it returned a value and I got 678. I am so confused. Please help

Did you break in the probe?

A break-in period... No what do I have to do to break it in. I don't remember seeing that in the manual.

Yeah, leave it in the tank for a couple weeks.

Its been about 2 weeks now and still get the same results. In the tank I get a value of 168... the 50 ohm resistor bnc is about 1568 and in the 470 mv solution 0. Nothing has changed from a week ago. Is this normal?

Let's watch the chart for the next day or two to see the pattern.
It needs to go the reverse of pH readings.

I was wondering about my ORP as well. I don't know a lot about this sensor, but I'm guessing it shouldn't look like this....

I tried moving it to another part of the sump, but I still get these sharp drops that don't seem to correlate to anything.

Should I try another probe?

If I were to take a guess. Is there a lot of air bubbles in your sump and could air be getting into the probe? I have my probes in a low churn area of my sump that has baffles to slow down and stabilize the water movement.

Grrr.... So the ORP probe just stopped working when I try calibrating it again. For 0mv with the terminal I get a value of 1568 and with the 470mv solution I get a value of zero. And in my tank I get a value of zero, however RO/DI water I get a value of 69. Are these expected values?

I think there is something else wrong with the module then.
It is not supposed to be that much of a gain.
PM for RMA.
