Good deal you got there. I ordered one from aliexpress.com but it was $125 :(. It's still in the mail.

What's that connector thingy on top of the pump? Would it fit a 3/4" or 1" fitting?

I believe it comes with adapters for different fittings.

The 12000 is a great deal for $15 more than the 6000. For ~$85 shipped at group buy pricing, you are getting the same thing as the $279 new Waveline. Finding or starting a group buy is the hard part.

There is one for the WP40 and 25 going on at RC (http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/showt ... ?t=2316419)

I'm trying to see if they would include these pumps as well, but I got no response so far. Maybe some other people suggesting it would help.

Ya, I kind of gave up on getting them directly through Jebao. They don't give any discount on shipping for multiple pumps and the only way to pay is a bank transfer.

I was told they had the same connector as the Jebao pumps.
Guess what???
It's identical!!!
What does it mean?
It means that we can control all these pumps too
They are all made in China and sold at various different names: Diablo, SpeedWave, Waleline, Jebao, Boyu and who knows how many more....
They use the same technology as the Jebao pump, so we already have the cable, which in turn means we are all set for more controllable things for us to play with :)
Isn't it nice of the Chinese manufacturers to create something we already can control

Roberto what would you say is the minimum flow % that the pump can be operated? For instance, can it go down to 10% in night mode?

You have to overcome the head of your tank.
So, even though at 10% the pump would be spinning, it would not be enough to pump water up the return pipe, unless you are in a closed loop of some sort with zero head.
In my case, I have about 3 feet of head. To overcome this, I need about 40%.
At 45%, I get a very little bit flow, which is what I use for feeding.

Sure, but theoretically speaking there shouldn't be any operating issue if the pump is programmed to run at low %, right?
What I was thinking to do is go for a higher flow version of the DC (compared to a "just needed" flow version), operating it a e.g. 50% in normal mode, going down to e.g. 20% at night mode. Of course these % are to be finetuned once up and running.
My assumption is that in the long run it might be better for the pump to have it down rev rather than using it at high revs.

I don't see why there would be any operating issues, since the pumps were made to be used that way.
I've been running mine at about 60%.

Pump arrives today. Going to see if I can install it tonight.

I'll need to modify my cable to use it off of one of the ATO ports.

Review will be delayed a bit, because I can't get my old pump out. lol

Great looking, small pump though. Anxious to see it working.

What's the outlet max diameter of the dc12000?

Got mine today. Dry fitted a 1.5" fitting and it looks like it went in a few turns. Not sure if it will leak water if mounted externally.

Yeah, planning to put teflon. But if u see the photo, that's the most I can screw in without forcing it. It's like 3-4mm in only. I'm afraid forcing it might crack it.

And I've had more than my fair share leak with teflon!

wideawake/bhazard - I'd like to know what you think of the noise level after you get your pump up and running.

Are you interested in knowing noise in internal or external use?

Internal. If I get one it would be for internal use for the foreseeable future.

I'd be replacing a QuietOne pump that has a moderately audible hum with the doors closed on the stand. The QuietOne pump replaced an external LittleGiant 3-MDsomething that I no longer had room for under the tank when I had to hastily replace my old leaking sump :) The LG pump was actually a little quieter than the QuiteOne pump.

Oh, they are dead silent :)
I have the speedwave and after I made my return match the drain with RA, you can sleep on the side of it and not hear it :)
If I only could make my skimmer be a zero noise too... lol

Hmmm. I think I'll put some live rock rubble n between the QuiteOne and side of the sump. If I can get it to vibrate loud enough for a day or two I can talk the boss into a new pump :) I've had to use a bamboo skewer half a dozen times now to jump start the impeller after a water change or feeding. It won't be long before it craps out altogether.

I have the same problem as you with the skimmer though. That is the next loudest piece of equipment in the tank.

So Roberto, if I wanted to add the code that you made for your system, to my system, would I just change these three things?

Ok, thanks! Would it be possible to just put the level that you want the water to be at and have the pump adjust accordingly so it keeps it at that level?

With dedication and debugging, you can do a lot!!
I didn't want to spend so much time, so I just did a quick one, which works just fine for me.
Feel free to revise and make it better :)

I just had a quick thought. Suppose I am running the Jebao WP40s through the pwm ports, and controlling them through the portal. How do I control the DC-6000 from my ATO high port without the portal assigning the WP40 values to it? One of these will end up not being able to be controlled via the portal I guess.

@Piper, I have a QuietOne too, and it is absolutely not quiet... lol. Supposedly, these are dead silent.

You don't include it in the DCPump class.

Just set that port to None and then you control it manually.

The stock libraries don't use the ato port anyway...I made a version that does but never got any feedback. Not sure if I even made a pull request for it or not.

So you should be fine

First impressions:

Holy crap. This thing has serious power, and yes it is completely silent. I have to keep it on 2 out 6 intensity, or it is too much for the sump/overflow. I'm using maybe 10 watts to pump my tank, and this is the lowest model (Unless the 3000 comes out). That's insane.
