Similar problem; solved... I was plugging my TTL cable in flush left, when you need to plug it in flush right... Black cable to outermost pin.

Re: WIFI connection
Ha - and I have no idea what I did today, but it has been connected for 2+ hours and counting ... Programmed the unit using the WIFI Attachment Setup Utility, which gave me an associated IP of 0.0.0.0 and then I decided what the heck, and hit the "update firmware" button which progressed f...

Re: WIFI connection
Hmm I can put testing on my old router on my list of things to do - issues I foresee... 1) the router only supports WPA1-PSK, does the 4.0 firmware support WPA1 OK ? 2) To get it to work I have to bridge from my all in 1 router/cable modem which I have never tried before... I could just never set it...

Re: WIFI connection
Hmm well; when I put it right next to the router I get a signal - but I cannot get it to respond to a ping. Since I still have my antique unit, I did some live testing - same network. Antique unit connects, works as programmed: get e WiFly Ver 2.38, 12-11-2012 on 131C11 Beacon=102 Probe=5 Reboot=0 O...

WIFI connection
Trying to install a new wifi module (had a gen 1 unit that I could never upgrade past v2.3 and it was still the devil) and can't seem to get my new 4.41 unit to hold a connection. It shows connected; but after about a minute the unit goes to fast "no IP" blink mode and I really never have ...

Re: WIFI module won't save static IP
you're right - turning the DHCP off allows it to save the IP.... of course it is still now solving my problem... any maybe I've changed too many settings that the "factory reset" doesn't fix trying to get it to work, so I'm probably missing something here results for get w: get w SSID=SSID...

Re: WIFI module won't save static IP
Right - but when I set it in TerraTerm or Putty it doesn't "stick" I save, reboot, and my setting disappears.... It pretends to accept it, but doesn't keep it.

Re: unit randomly resetting
Update from my side of the world - received the new VGA cables from mouser, and they work perfectly, (ordered from here: http://www.mouser.com/ProductDetail/AIM-Cambridge-Emerson-Connectivity-Solutions/30-1511-6/?qs=sGAEpiMZZMt4a%252bVKO2jOrSHPtEuNG7TamyFUbYQ6X7U%3d ) must have the right # of wires....

Re: unit randomly resetting
Thanks! For reference, this problem has been going on for probably 6 months or more and it started after I messed with my unit one day updating programming, etc.... I'm hoping the replacement cable I ordered will have all the wires in them so I can use all my relays, BUT currently the system is up, ...

Re: unit randomly resetting
For many years I was a Radio Ham, and I used Ferrite Toroids on leads to stop electrical or radio frequency feedback into local TV sets. IMHO if you loop a lead through a Toroid a couple of turns it is more efficient than the fettite beads you find on SVGA leads. You can get ferrite Toroids from el...

Re: unit randomly resetting
yeah - well my RA cable does have it, and I will be sure that future cables have it to. In my case, the ferrite that is on the cables that shipped with my RA apparently arent good enough

Re: unit randomly resetting
so, new testing results... with my old VGA cable removed and a junk box cable installed the resetting stopped - but the cables I found around the house don't seem to be high enough quality to have all 15 wires connected (as my relay box doesnt seem to be responding on all the relays).... next step -...

Re: unit randomly resetting
Update - reorganizing my cabinet didn't help, but I did find an old VGA cable in my junk box that is probably double the thickness... seems to be working so far... more testing to continue today. If this works, I know I'm also going to replace the cable to box #2 just to be safe and use thicker VGA ...

Re: unit randomly resetting
OK, great - my plan of action now is to re-organize my electronics and get everything as far away and organized as possible to hopefully eliminate interference.... specifically, all ballasts will be removed from the area as I'm sure they are contributing the most to the problem. If that doesnt work,...

Re: unit randomly resetting
That's what I'm saying.... The expansion bus starts in the head unit, travels down to the svga cable into the main relay box and to the USB port on the side of the box. I highly doubt that you would be picking up noise inside the main relay box, so it's got to be in between the head unit and the ma...

Re: unit randomly resetting
That means you are picking up noise through the expansion bus. The bus starts in the jumper, goes through the svga cable to the relay box and comes out on the USB connector. If you are saying that you have nothing connected in the USB connector on the main relay box, the noise is being introduced p...

Re: unit randomly resetting
So, when I plug the jumpers back in, and leave everything else unplugged (relay box completely unplugged, and nothing on it), the problem comes back
Does that mean my board is bad?

you guys should post some photos of your setups here too - maybe there is a correlation between the proximity of other equipment (or some other similarity) between all of our systems that could explain it??? strange that everyone else does not have an expansion module and is still seeing this annoyi...

well, pulling the SDA and SCL jumpers seems to have solved it... I want to test for a few more days to be 100% sure though lol...
what is my next step?? keep the relay and wiring unplugged and add the jumpers back and see if it comes back?

Re: unit randomly resetting
wow - well that makes me feel like less of a poor RA owner.. glad I'm not the only one! So - update... I moved the MH away from the Unit - There are still two t5 ballast within 6" of the RA Expansion units current position... and probably 12" from the head unit. I also stretched the Relay ...

Re: unit randomly resetting
Are you using the original USB cable for your relay expansion module? Is there any power cable or ballast around or close the cable? I think the unit is resetting because of interference being introduced through the expansion bus. hmmm you should see the mess I have in there - but that makes sense....

Re: unit randomly resetting
The part about memory tells me you have the wrong board type in the Arduino app. As far as the blinking red, that doesn't appear to be long enough to be an upload, so I don't think that part is happening... ha, well that poses another question I have never been able to answer since I noticed the bo...

Sorry for the delay - forgot I posted the question!! haha
I have 1 expansion relay unit, so I'm running 16 ports, plus the WIFI unit are the only non-standard things installed.

unit randomly resetting
So, I've been working on tracing an existing problem with my RA unit where it seems to randomly cycle power... I've timed it - I've monitored electrical output in my house wiring - Monitored output through my surge bars, etc... nothing seems to explain it, but it continues. Usually the cycles are on...
